A 6 core would be better suited for DX12/future (we're talking highest end here). Other than that great build, I really like the monitor.

Yeah, that's to show that the game scales well with more cores, not with MHz alone - high MHz would inflate or corrupt the results.

As someone who has been using a 21:9 monitor for more than a year now at work and who has replaced his monitor at home in favor of a model with the same aspect ratio, I would never invest any money into a 16:9 4k monitor + a system that is able to handle said resolution.
3.440 x 1.440 pixels is 40% less load than 3.820 x 2.160 pixels (= money saved) while providing better immersion at the same time. And I'm pretty sure a resolution of 3.440 x 1.440 pixels is more than sustainable at high framerates with a single Pascal/Arctic Islands gpu.

The choice of peripherals ain't optimal either - but I'd say peripherals are more about personal (read: subjective) feeling/taste than anything else. So I'd rather leave 'em out entirely.

No, it's still bad. The lack of Displayport means you are relying on your HDMI to support all your features, and compared to DP, it doesn't. GTX 7xx-8xx don't have HDMI 2.0, which only came with second generation Maxwell, so if you're like when I first got my monitor using 3x GTX 670, you couldn't use HDMI even if you could push the pixels. TVs often exaggerate or use some shenanigans to get 60/120/200+ hz 'rates' of sorts as well.

It works, but is most definitely compromising the experience.
