Well when I backed up my computer I just grabbed a 500gig blank USB drive at work.....I did think that something might be on it BUT it was raw....So I just went with it.

Last night Boss calls says HEY do you know where that 500GB usb drive is. I said I have it why?

He says you didn't use it did you.....

I said I backed up 350-450 GB on it....

Then it went too. I had 5 years worth of SQL data base work scripts backed up on that drive. I wipe the partion off on accident and was going to recover it.....

So yea my boss should love me right now. I feel bad about it, but he did the same thing to me earlier this year. BUT I admit it was noting as important as that drive was.....

    LOL

He didn't want to talk to me much after I said I did that......

He has broken I swear 4 or 5 of those this year. Knocking them off the table when they were on. I tried to mod one to run a DVD but it seemed not to pump out the power needed for it...

I can't believe I wiped that drive. I know must of his work is cut and past.....that was a bad thing to kill. VERY BAD.

At least I didn't kill a account drive that had 15,000 people on it........

I mess with about 3-10 thousand SSN every other day. I could be a Ideity theft king if I want to be LOL.

You don't pay you rent it ends up on my desk and I CAN"T believe there is that many people every other day that get kicked out for not paying rent in Tulsa Oklahoma.

    I could not Imagen Huston...

I formatted a laptop for the GM of the company I work for. I told him him before the format to make sure everything he needed was backed up on the network drive we have setup for users here.

Long story short I ran the format without really looking for data.. couple of .PSTs here and there but nothing major. After the format he call me into his office to ask if I made a backup of a folder he had. This folder contained 8 years worth of confidential documents and financial records for the company... I didnt back it up.

Eventually he tells me that he backed it up over the weekend "just in case" even though I specifically said "back you stuff up"

    He would have killed me.

I sit down with clients and go through all the directories that usually have personal information to see what they want and don't want. Then I make it abundantly clear that once I start erasing the drive, there is no going back. I also make it clear that I cannot be held responsible for you not telling me to back something up. I then start the erase routines with them watching. That way, they know everything I saw and know I can't be held accountable for their lack of preparation. It has served me well so far, albeit time consuming.

And yeah, if I were your boss, you'd be looking at a pink slip. Unemployment benefits are drying up in most states.
