I am using HWmonitor, i just copy some info from saving the file. I haven't played any games yet, just been running about 5-8 programs at once, to see how far it goes up when doing stuff. I am installing some games now, starting with GTA IV to see how it does.

Btw with real temp are you saying to have the program run in the background when gaming and i can post a snapshot?

Just game and have it running in the background.
Note the lowest temps before you game and the peak temps whenever you want.
We already know that your previous was 93c!

QUICK question, i bought a 80m case fan, it comes with a 3- to 4-pin adapter, but how do you use it? The pin connector , well my MB doesn't have any extra fan slots? I put the 3 pin fan connector in the fan slot, but not sure what to do with this 3- to 4-pin adapter.

I was reading this at best buy reviews, someone said this

" Its also really cool that they include the 3pin (fan connector) to 4pin (molex power) adapter with it, just make sure you actually use the adapter to provide you with molex power, do not use the 3 pin fan connector. This is because the 3 pin fan connector will only provide a low source of power, there is no temperature control wire on this fan, so you want to definitely use the molex for power. Compare the 2, you'll poo yourself at the difference. "

I guess it reaches 80+ when gaming and just fine when not gaming. Also depending on the game, i guess. Should i apply more Thermal Compound? or is it fine where it is?
Another thing, after playing TDU1 at max for about what 5-10 mins, no stuttering, 75-100fps all the time.

10 degree celcius difference.
I guess that's probably load norm for the stock fan.
Think you should be ok for now, I don't think you'll get much more improvement with that stock cooler.

Oh. Yea temps are way better than before, i am installing GTA IV and i have about 6 programs open and extracting a winrar file and have winamp enable and temps are very cool. Nothing like before. Anyways thanks for the help. Guess i will start on my AMD build in a few weeks with a 6850.

Peace :)

Thank you man! For stock and stock cooling) that's expected, was assuming you were running in an overclocked environment. It's fine for now but a new cooler can always help.

u2k your hdd temps are a bit worrying. You should try to keep your hdds under 40c at all time. I suggest you try to put it as low as possible in your case because cool air tends to stay below and hot air rises up.

BTW you should report the guy calling you names...

Also you said you spred out the tim? You should not do that.It is in fact quite wrong because it leaves air bubbles. Instead you should put a pea sized drop of TIM in the middle of the CPU and then let it spread from the pressure of the heatsink. This is an excelent video demosntrating the technique.

Some people think they should cover the entire top of the CPU which is wrong. The metal part on the top is just a heat spreader. The CPU die is in fact much smaller and located in the middle.

It says under 60. Right now its at 50c. When i game it heats up to about 56c. Which is fine i guess. The way my case is, i have to leave it where its at, the best spot. Its staying cooler because i bought a new fan, but i can buy another fan, USB one and maybe put it near the HDD>?

Yea thanks for the video. I did spread it out, seems to be working. But i wont do that again when i have to re-apply in the future. Everything is staying much cooler. Just got done playing GTA IV for about an hour and the temps seem to get up to 74c. And the video card 54c. Not bad. :D

Actually, that isn't true. Failure rates for drives runing 50°C are pretty much the same as drives running 30°C, and below 30°C failure rates tend to skyrocket. I'd say the sweet spot to keep a drive temperature is between 35°C and 45°C

Ok. What do u want to know?
I have budget mobo g31m-es2l and e3300, now its running at 4Ghz with core voltage 1.26 temps are 71-72C under prime 95 and in games are 63-64C (box cooler). My biggest question is how much will he go with new cooler and voltage increase.I dont want to spend money on the cooler for 100-200MHz above 4GHz, will i hit 4,5GHz at least to make worth replacing box cooler?
This is very good cpu running 4GHz undervoltage because of the V-drop ;)

I'm surprised you got it that far actually. 4Ghz@1,26 sounds amazing. Nobody can guess for certain because every cpu is unique but my guess is that 4,5GHz would be pushing it too much. Still you should consider investing in some better cooling anyway because over 70c is not healthy for a penryn derilative, especially a celeron one.

Sounds alot like my old e5200 r0 stepping, 4Ghz day in/out no questions asked but wouldn't go a lick past 4.6Ghz and 4.3Ghz was it's stable threshold. Sorry to say mehtinks that's best you are going to get. Especially on a G31.
