I've been clocking my X1900XT for the last two days, I decided to scrap CCC and use ATT and ATI Tool instead. Works great. But the hardware... meh. Currently, I'm at 710/750 with these voltages:
VGPU: 1.475
MVDDC: 2.195
MVDDQ: 2.086
VDDCI: 1.480
If I run ATI Tool's 3D View it freezes after about ten minutes. The temperature would then be about 82C. I tried raising teh voltages a bit to get it stable, but then I have to run the fan at 100% and the temp still went up to 86C. It probably would've risen even more, but I quit 3D because I'm not sure how high temps the R580 is capable of surviving.
This is, to me, a bit dissapointing. A friend of mine's got a XTX, and he's almost at 800 Mhz on the Core. Sure, it's an XTX, but that's a huge difference. And the standard cooler seems to be able to keep up with the heat, and his VGPU is above 1.5.
So, what should I do? Get a VF-900CU? But then I need another case fan as well... shit. The cooler I really want is the IceQ3, the standard cooler on the HiS cards...
I'm new to voltage-clocking, so if there's something I could do to raise clocks without raising temps too much, please, share it.
