OK so with this crappy tec at 100 watts it gets to 60 c at full load at 3.0Ghz.

I wouldn't have even ditched the FX processor...

60C load seems high, are you running the TEC off of it's own PSU? If not, your system is pretty hefty, and the TEC might not be getting the full 100 watts.

All that effort and money for a mere 400MHz @ 60C. This is why I don't replace stock cooling... it's not worth the money for the performance.

//I run 2860MHz 1.333v around and my temp right now on the stock cooler is 39C with one instance of F@H open, xfire, winamp... open case no fans. If only Windsor didn't top out around 2750-2850MHz...

Oh, so it's not set up properly. You had me worried there...

Still, my point still stands that good coolers/water cooling/TEC is mad expensive. The most I would get would be an AC Freezer 64 Pro becasue of the great band/buck ratio.

where would the fun be with simple? Plus this will stomp that when the meanwell is replaced...or when I pull it late tonight or tomorrow and take a look at what went wrong.

It's in a bitch of a spot to remove,

its just like the guys who use dry ice you can get a higher overclock with the right cpu as long as you keep it cool.. without that better cooling they would never reach the speeds they do, but it also depends on the chip too.

That's exactly what happened to me when I first started putting my setup together. I knocked my bottle of FluidXP over, and apparently spilled some in the Mean Well. I took it apart, cleaned it out with some non-residue electronic contact cleaner, and let it dry for about a day. Fired right up after that.

Take it apart, and bathe the crap out of it in contact cleaner.

If your temps are that low just run it at 3GHz for now until you get your problems sorted.

You better be running the ENTIRE tec cooling system on that meanwell then. Fans, pumps, and all.

Get ready for a melted rig then.

DaMulta, my point is that the stock cooler can generally handle some mild overvolting, and some 200-500MHz overclocking. With a REALLY good cooler I may be able to get 1GHz+, but I don't think it's worth all that extra money for the performance.
