    King's Bounty. Good. Freaking. Luck.

Its a strategy game where you are always fighting opponents that are much, much tougher than you. Your units are limited. So if too many are lost, you will be gimped later in the game.

The link the OP posted is to "I Want to Be the Guy" Odd name, yea. Essentially its a platformer like Mario, but random things jump out and kill you. Its not so much about reflexes as playing each level (which is really short) over and over and over until you have found all possible obstacles, and then memorizing the moves you need to make to avoid them. Most people don't make it past the first level before quitting.

I don't know about hardest, but what about near-aneurysm-inducing? Then Ikari Warriors for NES is your game. Well, it can't be even considered a game, but an endurance contest, between you (the player) and the game itself. Level, after level, after level, after... well you get the idea.

The game itself is not very complex, I mean it is a NES game after all. Controls are very simple and you pretty much just move from the bottom to the top of the screen taking-out any enemies in the way. Problem is that there seems to be no end to the levels. No, really! The game goes on, and on, and on, with no apparent end. I remember going at it for probably 4-5 hours in a single sitting, trying not to die and yet there was no end to the game no matter how long I went on.

So, the game is not really hard in that classic way, just... endless?

    Actual games:

Super Ghouls and Ghosts (SNES) = You can get hit twice and you die, 3 lives, no saves, and at least 7 levels. Or at least that is as far as I could ever get.

Vector Man (Sega) = I honestly don't think you can beat that game without cheating. And cheating only made it kinda fair.

    Gamers Mod's:

Ultimate Super Mario Speed Freak (I think that is right) = Futile exercise in memorizing entire stages of perfectly timed moves. Search YouTube for hardest mario game ever. It is real and I tried it.

I've been playing it for a while since he posted it and it's easy after a couple of plays. Just 3 rules.

    - Never build two circles next to each other.
    - Build them 2-3 jumps ahead of the cat, try using the ones that come from the start.
    - By following the two above you will leave the cat many escapes, but 2 jumps ahead continue doing it until it's 1 jump from escaping then close it. NEVER close the one closer to him unless he is going to escape, that way you will have him going in circles.

hmmm i win. I did it in the first one, but it was luck. The cat started almost surrounded in that one.

I've been thinking trying to figure out which is the hardest game I have played and couldn't reach a clear conclusion, objectively speaking. Maybe Severance.

Subjectively it was Quake for me. I was young and after years of playing Wolf3D, Rise of the Triad, Doom and the likes, I had no idea that Quake could be played with keyboard+mouse and tried to play the hard modes with only the keys. It was really hard to aim in 3D lol.

Im sure there are some im forgetting, but the one that comes to mind is MDK 2 for the Dreamcast, it has no difficulty control(PC does), so it defaults to the highest.

juiced on the highest difficulty with a xbox that freezed randomly

that was awesome, I would be in a pink slip race with the computer and half the time the computer cheated and stole my car and I would have to restart the game or the xbox would freeze and I would still lose cause even if you don't finish the race you still lose

    such fun, blood boiling fun.
