get a 30" 2560x1600 display for a few days. you'll never go back to anything with lower resolution, you'll even buy a new desk

I disagree with that, I don't like monitors being to big.

Eyes need to move around much much more in order to see the whole screen, so for me ( and I know some other people) it causes eye strain eventually.
