    Go here: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/top/recent.php

I did quite a few out of the top 20 out of 100 of all time votes. Texture packs, enhanced shaders, fxaa mod, skyUI, water textures, trees, weapons, blood, etc. I'm getting decent smooth gameplay with my aging hardware and cranked up graphics with extra textures thus far...but I'm only about 2 hours into the game. Just got it yesterday (finally! wooohaaa!)!

did you change any of the coding in the ini files like shadow resolutions? Thats what i think kills my PC most. Not the graphics mods, but the shadow res cuz its all ran on the CPU

Haven't touched any ini's yet...I did the mods and after about an hour couldn't take it any longer and just had to play the game. I was surprised at how nice things looked and how smooth it still played. I'll have to see what kind of crap my PC can handle once I do get into the ini's.

yeah i increased my shadow res and my FPS kind of sucked. Even though i do have a 2500k at 4.5GHZ, still kills it. Blethesda and there shitty non-dynamic shadows. Ill most likely get the acceleration mod that was released by a guy to off load some of the CPu X87 code of something like that and it is adding up to 40% more fps for people. Also getting the Lush Trees mod and then adding 8x Transparent Super sample AA might have put a burden on the FPS as well.

Latest version beta of enhanced shaders (12c) adds proper SSAO ( assuming you choose the ssao file in the download)

    http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=822

    Warning, MASSIVE performance hit.

Just in the process of adjusting my ini file to make way for this awesome mod ( well awesome for AMD cards anyway)

Screenshots in the spoilers to show effect.

Now the shader has a darkening effect in general how ever look under the chairs/behind the plate to see the SSAO in action.

Photobucket may of resized the images to 1600x1200 so they may look a bit odd.

massive performance hit if you use SSAO right? Post Processing basically.

Enhanced Shader mod all together isnt that much of a performance hit, its more AA and Shadow resolutions that seem to be the biggest hit to the FPS.

Do you know if it's done on GPU or CPU?

Trying to work out what I could lower in my ini settings.

Shadows didn't seem to effect performance of SSAO much.

Also I could be going mad, but it doesn't show up properly in my screen shots, is it because it's a post processing effect? ( like when you try to screen shot MLAA?)

Shadows are done on the CPU. So if you increase the shadow resolutions it'll be quite the hit to performance, unless you have a pretty high clocked CPU. FOr me even at 4.5ghz on my 2500k my FPS still sucks when the shadow resolutions are increased.

Sorry I know you're trying to help but you've completely missed the point

    SSAO CPU or GPU?

Adjusting my shadow setting whilst SSAO was enabled made little difference to frame rate so I'm guessing GPU, but I'm after confirmation :toast:

well i talked about shadows because idk if SSAO is ran on the GPU, but i know the Shadows are ran on CPU.

yeah, either way i knew about the new enhanced beta but it has SSAO which is post processing and i dont like that effect makes thing more blurry then they should.

It shouldn't be blurring anything man, you thinking of FXAA or something?

Also THIS is why I want this SSOA to work.

    DEPTH GLORIOUS DEPTH!

im able to get the same effect or close to it with forcing ambient occlusion through my nvidia control panel. since you have a ati card you don't get that.

afaik, SSAO is too complex to be computed on the CPU, its mostly done in the GPU through Compute shaders (DX11?) or pixel shaders themselves, its one of the graphic settings attributed to the GPU (enabled through nVidia;s control panel for nvidia users).

Btw, regarding AO, my weak GPU will struggle a bit when AO is set to quality, setting it to performance makes it better balanced, the latest drivers particularly runs it better (and looked better in the performance level since it fixes the AO flickering to a lesser level)

jesus i did have my AA set to 8x. No wonder my FPS was kind of shitty from the beginning. put it down to 4x and then lowered my primary and secondary shadow res.

people who want more GPU usage, force SSAA in the CCC. i did accidentally, and it maxed out both GPU's to 100% and made them run at 95C :3

well if people want 100% GPU usage, they better deal with 100% temperatures too.

Remind me never to buy a 2nd hand GPU from you.

    95C° is waaaaaaaaaaaay too hot.

In most demanding games my GPU sits at around 90%-99% and that is with a monster overclock. Still, my temps are only ever around 50C° (with fans set to low/quiet). After market GPU coolers are your friend and if you are getting 95C° temps, then it is time you checked out some Zalman GPU cooling products.

they sit around 60-70C most of the time, they just cooked when i accidentally set 8x SSAA

Still anytime that they get 90% utilised, they are gonna fry.

I would still say you have GPU cooling issues.
