Right now I have the two 1900's, I feel like I might be better served to sell them and get a 3870 card. What do you think?

Sell em and get one, or maybe 2 3870's (with a bit of saving).

LOL, well I would get a second one later on, but I don't think I can budget everything for a new mobo that will run crossfirex. (I assume the old chips will not run the x-fire.) I should easily be able to get the money from my x-fire mastercard and my 1900xtx to buy 1, and set the little extra to the side.

Check out the performance of 2x 3850's in CF mode.

personally I find 2x x1900's in the same range as my 2900xt, so I'd say no, wait until theres actually performance to gain from the transaction. lol though 2x 3850's might be a better option, they're just lower clocked 3870's.

Really just depends on how much you want to spend, now there's good options all over the place. 3850's are the cheapest, but they'll OC to 3870 stock speeds pretty easily. Also to note, the next step up with the 3870 OC's a lil better from the reviews I've seen, and the 8800gt OC's a little better than that.

Price/performance ratios between the new cards are pretty damn even, and they're all gonna run games at acceptable speeds. IMO, a 3870 now then add in a 3850 when you can upgrade to an x-fire board. Or depending on how long you can handle the one card, get a 3870x2 in the spring.

Or be a fanboi to whichever company you like. It's win-win in the graphics department. As such, I'll be supporting the underdog DAAMIT.

Better wait until the prices stable and drivers mature a little bit before buying the 38XX series.
Just wait for 8800gt 256mb to surface and we might have a little price drop. If you can wait for another 1 month, I'd say wait.

im going to say get the HD3870 & sell the 1900's because the HD3870 aren't that expensive, about 200 bucks a pop i think, and they have dx10.1 & great power consumption, along with great power saving features similiar to Cool N Quiet, etc. which will reduce the noise, heat & power consumption of your system.

i think one 3870 will out perform two 1900s.. or at least equal it without all the heat and power used.. maybe add another later..

i have just swapped one 1900xtx for one 3870.. my 3dark 2005 score went from 13000 with the 1900xtx to 18000 with the 3870.. 2006 went from 6600 to 11440..

the new lightsmark score went from 101 to 226.. both cards were overclocked..

quite a good gain.. i sold my 1900 for about the same price as a new 1950 pro would cost..

I think that it is, I will sell that cards and get 1 3870 for now and another later down the road. I guess it is time to put them on Ebay, you think a buy it now price of 260 is to much?

Does anybody know if these will work on a regular x-fire board or does the x-fire need the new boards? If so I could do the 3850's in a pair.

I also have my 3870 on order, but will take until the 29th to get here because of distance and the holiday. Good thing I have this old Sempron pc until then :).
