Don't worry, you're not missing out on much yet. There will be a demo dogfighting module to play with estimated around April or May. Other elements will be rolled out to be tested as they are available. The full game isn't expected for at least another year or so. The specs will be similar to Crysis 3. A fairly wide range of hardware will be able to play at low to medium levels. It's going to be designed to really punish high end systems playing at high quality settings though. They want to push the envelope on the PC platform.

The minimum system requirements for the hangar:
Windows 7 or 8 64-bit Dual Core CPU Intel: Core2 Duo 2.4Ghz AMD: Phenom X2 8GB of RAM NVidia Geforce 460GTX AMD Radeon HD5850 DirectX 11
Edit: That being said, my old PC running a Q6600 at 3.2, 8G of DDR3 at 1440, and a 6850 runs the hangar on medium-high settings at 1680x1050 without much hassle.

When you say it like "punish high end systems playing at high quality settings" it sounds dirty. Simply the word punish. I like to push my pc pretty hard sometimes but... punish? Sounds like I need to get the leather and a whip.

Well guys I'm holding off on which package to get..... Because I just bought an Oculus Rift Dev kit! Star Citizen will support Oculus Rift. I have a few projects of my own I want to work on, but once I start development I'll apply to try to be apart of the VR work for SC (Probably a small chance in hell, but I'll give it a go). I'll keep you guys informed of my progress. :toast:

So, does anyone here have an Oculus Rift or plan to get one to use with SC? I probably should have waited for DK2/Crystal Cove, but I'm tired of waiting.. lol I'll buy DK2 as soon as it's ready as well.

Only thing I'm buying for Star Citizen right now is ships. Hardware, peripherals I'll get towards the end of the beta. I do plan on getting an Oculus Rift or something similar eventually.

I was really close to buying the 300i, but then I wanted the freelancer or the Hornet.. lol So, I decided to wait a couple weeks. Honestly I have no clue as to what I want to fly? I want to crew up on a bigger ship to be a gunner or some type of engineer.

You are definitely welcome to be a gunner on one of my ships. Get a 300i. It seems that it will have a lot of different options to make it what you want it to be... Freelancer is my favorite tho...

Yeah, there's a couple variants eventually coming. Most of these variants are just different configurations that you can just do in game. Like, buying parts for your ship to make it whatever you want it to be. I'm assuming though that there will be a "heavier" Feelancer variant with a larger hold.

I plan on getting a Rift/CC for SC, but was waiting for the retail version as it will be higher res than the dev-kit version.

Yea, DK2/Crystal Cove is 1080p. The current DK1 Is 720p. You just have to remember that the resolution is half for each eye. So, the 720p DK1 is 360p for each eye.

I knew this much, just frustrated it's taking so long for the release of CC when they have prototypes already running on the same software as DK1.

Yea... I was going to wait for cc as well but I don't want to miss another year... People on their forum are saying maybe by the end of the year.

I've been playing around with a vr unit I made for my phone. It works really well and looks really good with my 1080p phone. I'll upload some pictures of it. It's based off FOV2GO. I've made a few modification to it.

I use a bluetooth Controller to play Quake 2. I also made a Durovis Dive.

EDIT: I was on my phone last night so it was hard to edit. here is a video I watch of SC with my phone vr setup. It's actually really good.
