the voltage on my pc fluctuates from 1.0 to 1.4 in a matter of seconds

hi my pc is stable at least until I can use it with no crashes and it doesn't is a very stable baby, howerver I had the curiosity of checking cpu-z and found out the voltage is going crazy i wonder if I should check with bios too to see if its a bug in the cpu-z.
I really don't want to change anything on the bios, It took me a great deal to make it stable... so what do you think am i good?

I'd assume it's some sort of voltage/clock stepping to save power.

If you understand the above and still believe it could be a symptom of something, then maybe it is something thrashing the processor, a sign of imminent failure of MB, or perhaps a dying PSU.

It's when it changes clocks depending on loads is when the voltage changes. The 1.4v is probably when it "turbos"

Try disabling Amd cool and quiet in the bios to see if it changes, you should keep it on though.

Notice how the clock sped is 800Mhz? It's called AMD Cool n' Quiet, basically the exact same thing as Intel SpeedStep. It clocks down and down-volts the CPU when it's not doing anything. This is 100% normal. I would be more concerned if you were seeing this with the CPU fully loaded. If you run Prime95 it should hold steady at a higher voltage along with a higher clock speed.

it will do it multiple times per second dude, software just lags a little when watching it.

turn windows power saving options all off by enabling the high performance mode.

that should have it going full bore all the time

Its perfectly normal and there is no reason to disable the power saving even if overclocking.

just checked the voltages on the bios and is stable 1.425v - 1.475v flunctuates around that area so yea I assume is speedstep and quiet. Thanks for all the new information, I love programming.

Thread title misleading, should say CPU voltage, not PC voltage.

If you want to reassure yourself, you can check your PSU voltage stability, which ideally should not fluctuate more than a half volt.

You can also try some basic stability testing tools for your CPU, like Prime 95, OCCT, etc.

I was getting out of the blue artifacts the other day on AC Unity Dead Kings right after launching the game, even though it's a smaller more plain map than Paris and I had no such problems there.

I then ran Furmark and IntelBurn with no problems. The GPU would fluctuate back and forth from 63% to 100% usage in Furmark, as if my 7970 were throttling.

I then launched Unity later and have had no artifacts since. I run it capped at 40 FPS now, which I forgot to do when I got artifacts, but it may have also been that I just launched the game too soon after rebooting, which I usually do with intense games to refresh RAM.

Far Cry 3 and 4 and Unity are very poorly coded games that can make the best hardware choke though. They're kinda known as OC killers.
