That would suck to grow up there. Or maybe not. You know there is some kid there with shortwave saying stuff like "I am the devil" in a real scratchy voice

Aliens are prolly STH about this.

They are definitly past using radio signals and don't use them anymore. They use stuff like Quantum Entanglement or Spooky Action at a Distance, or other things.

Projects like SETI are just a buncha bored old farts playing around with satellite dishes all day and nothing more.

Also I'm disgusted the govt. is wasting taxpayer money on this crap when they damn well know aliens don't use radio signals anymore.

No one saying they use radios in space. With a radio antenna they can hear a hard drive spin up a 1,000,000 miles away. But I agree with the wasteful spending. I had it with subsidies and this shit needs to stop. I guy made a point and bought 20 solar panels for $30,000. Which the gov chipped in $18,000. So he paid 12,000. After install them his saving on his electrical bill was $600 year. That's just stupid

Thing is with alien tech it prolly works in ways that could also not even be detectable with any equipment we do have... like cloaking themselves. Or even wonky materials that naturally can't be detected by anything we got.

The mountains and valleys would probably minimize the sound. My fiancé is from near there, and I have to tell you, that is very rugged, very isolated country, deep valleys, and steep peaks. She never even heard of the town, that's how isolated it is.

I thought they use them to study distant stars and galaxies, not SETI. Still, I agree that it is a waste of money. Instead of putting all that money into researching distant stars from Earth, it should be put into allowing man to visit said stars. I can't name anything productive (applied sciences) that came from the research they are doing.
