I read some reviews of it online that made it sound decent. So, I picked it up. Once I get tired of Unreal Tournament 3, I'll play it for a while and check it out.

The official reviews of the game combined come up with an 81% score (gamerankings.com) with some sites really panning the game. Not so great but the "players' reviews" are much, much better. That situation always interests me. The reviews were like..."pretty good game but with some serious techical issues". Hmmm, I never heard that before about a game.

I tried the demo and thought it was a bit lame. So I took the obvous next step and bought the game. I guess my thought was if players consistenly had good things to say, the game must be better than what the demo showed. Kind of the same feeling I got with SWAT 4. After playing the demo, I thought SWAT 4 was retarded - now it's one of my top 3 or 4 games of all time.

The Witcher definitely gets better and better, the more hours you put into it. I'm playing at 4xAA and 16xAF with everything set to high. I'm very impressed with the graphics. The interior of the castle in the first level is pretty amazing (IMHO). Overall, the Witcher's outdoor landscapes and may not compare with Oblivion's but so far I prefer the building artwork and models of the Witcher by far.

Make sure you patch to 1.2 before playing. And playing the game on Vista is like playing many games on Vista, a crapshoot.

got this the other week, simply awesome game. This is my fav style, cross between bloodlines and oblivion style.

It autoselected full settings too! 1920x1200 everything maxed, 16xAFA, using 8xAA. smooth and silky gameplay.

some of the language is just plain hillarious :)

some tavern punchups "your mother sucks Dwarf C*ck" lmao

damn, and he likes getting laid, alot!

oh, im using vista, no problems here. seriously the best game ive played for a while

I like his reviews, but that one was utter bollox. anyone with a half a brain can cope with the "minor" complexity of the game. Its fun actually having to bother watching how your fighting, brewing up potions, and 1 click fighting? I think not. Yes, you time specific clicks to initiate combos at an ever fastening pace while switching between forms to combat foes about you. Casting knock-down spells followed by finishing moves is rather pleasent especially when it results in some poor chaps head rolling down the hill.

Decisions made early in the game make for significant or subtle changes in events later in the game. All that is required is time to actually grasp the nature of this game and how truelly appealing it is. The wenches are fun, the swearing hillarious. Tho im not certain how many times I was told my mother sucked dwarf co*ck. but its funny to hear scabby peasents whinging about f-ing this and bastard that

Getting pissed is also fun, you stagger about like a total inneberate while being complained at by old hags and kicked out of their homes.

Nah, screw that review. the game rox :D

I scored a promo copy of the game (not the demo but a promo of the full game)
the game is not to bad.. the demo doesn't do it any justice, combat system buggy.. often found myself unable to click on the enemy due to they have backed into a corner (but something cool is you can select the combat effect styles such as group attack/powerful attack/or fast attack)

found a few bugs.. game seems to hate x-fire and causes one fo the two to crash rather often.

Edit: half way through typing this I got a new job wooooo

No idea lol, Haven had time to play any games much of late. spent 8 hours last week playing The Witcher after work and ended up regretting it and spent most of Saturday asleep because of it xD

Will try and check it out on Friday (a day off) and get back to you :)
