Well TT I hope you get better. Funny this thread piped up as I've been bouncing between a few different pastes this morning to find the right amount and technique to use.

And so far the leader is...... to be concluded

Sorry to hear that, Tt. Looks like your fingers still work, so that's a big ol' checkmark for the important bits. Get well soon, though. :toast:

I'll be getting my Core i7 4930K on 9/5 {ETA} If no one has chimed up for testing on a phase change system I will try it. How is the TIM's under -42c?

    Hey guys,

    Sorry for delay.

Unfortunately for now this will be USA only, I am still working to get this spread out further.

USA based users who want to try it please message me your shipping info and I will announce who is chosen once US residence is confirmed.

xvi and Random Murderer say thanks.

That's a real bummer. I go through quite a bit of paste.

Perhaps, but what's the price? Diamond has excellent thermal conductivity, but there's multiple reasons why it's rarely used.

Graphene was very expensive a few years ago, but prices have dropped dramatically due to scaling and production methods. It's not too expensive now for use as a thermal interface material ($40/gram retail), and prices are predicted to eventually drop lower than silicon, making it the obvious choice for chip production, given it's superior electrical properties and limitless supply. Silicon probably won't work below a 4 nm process due to heat and leakage issues inherent in silicon, even with Intel's 3D tranistor architecture. Chip production is headed that way in the next few years, and the spirit of Moore's Law continues, albeit with graphene instead of silicon.
A friend of mine says we can make it in small quantities in his home lab. If so, I plan on trying to make my own thermal compound, testing different formulae until I get a dramatic drop in temps (or not!). But I wish some of the established cooling tech companies would start offering their own versions. A product that could reduce temps reliably by even 5c would be a huge success, given that many enthusiasts spend hundreds of dollars on custom water cooling loops to achieve such a drop.

    Yes, so far only USA...

But after first round I will try to get some international trials as well.
