I am looking for a FAST pc to take with me on the road. I want something fast yet has good battery life. On the order of 6 hours or so. Anyone familiar with the Dell XPS 12 2-in-1 Touchscreen Ultrabook / Intel Core i7 i7-4500U / 8GB DDR3 memory / 256G SSD /?
I don't see much talk about laps here, just wondering if any users actually have one of these and their thoughts on it.
As I have never owned a traveling pc of any kind I'm scratching for info.
I guess one of the first questions I will be asked is what am I going to use it for.
Everything and anything I can while trapped in a motel room. Games, communication, office software, etc.
Thanks

Consider decent spec i5/7 laptops without an SSD. It's usually cheaper to buy a laptop with a HDD, then buy your own better quality SSD to put in and use acronis true image or something to copy the OS over. I'm not a fan of the SSD's these manufacturers drop in, usually cheap low performance stuff.

I've found we buy an awful lot of Lenovos these days as they have the specs we need, then drop in 256GB MX100's.

Thanks for the response. I was looking at Lenovo's X1 but I didn't like the user reviews I was reading so much.
Money part... money is no object within reason. I won't spend for an Alienware machine but... So the SSD is of no concern to me. I'd actually rather it came installed and with the OS too.
IF I were building another desktop, of course I would be thinking differently. I would spec out everything, as I have always done.
But I want something as I said, fast. I have heard the Dell is extremely fast, from a friend who just bought one.
Problem is he lives 30 miles from me, I don't want to drive that far to check it out.
. And I want support, good support, if I need it. I'm not too sure about Lenovo in that regard? If I have problems I want to simply box it up and return it.
