How is this really different than the myriad of other CPU/VGA liquid coolers that line the shelves of Newegg for $100 or less?

Maybe times have changed, but the rule of thumb with LCS was that anything pre built or 'all-in-one,' would give substandard performance and have a cheap build quality.

Last time I checked, AIO cooler often give better value than open loop coolers.

There's inherent benefits to buying components and building something. This is true of many things in life, particularly computers. I don't see it changing any time soon, even in today's 'single black box controls everything in your house' market.
