So I just saw that Rise of the Triads has a release date now, and I remember that quite fondly from back in the day.. It was truly a hidden gem I think.
So which 10 games from the past would you like to see redone in a modern engine and why?
Mine:
10: Hexen - At the time it came out it was one of the most visually impressive games made. I remember this as good fun and pretty hard.
9: Doom - Make it much closer to the original than Doom 3 was. Still with the satanic imagery and going to hell and all that.. It could look absolutely beautiful on a modern engine.
8: Forbidden Forest - Probably the first game I actually beat on my own as a kid.. I LOVED this.. Really scary, awesome with the bow.. Only took like 10 minutes to beat.. Redoing this like a souped up Crysis in dense jungle with monsters, skeletons and stuff.. Could be really fun.
7: Bioforge - The hardware killer of its day. Action roleplay at its finest. I seem to remember a pretty good combat system in this.
6: Fist 2 - I remember this as being really really hard, and I never made it through.. Basically a sort of action adventure game where you had to fight the bad guys as if it was a fighting game.
5: Freelancer 1 and 2: I played this with a highend pc of the day, good headset and a Sidewinder Force Feedback joystick. To this day it's still one of the most awesome gaming memories I have.. Flying down low to big ass capital ships feeling the AA rocking my fighter, looking at dozens of capital ships duke it out with big ass lasers and A LOT of fighters.
4: Dark Forces games - Star Wars FPS done right
3: Jedi Knight games - Star Wars fps done right with decent lightsaber battles.
2: Tie Fighter - Looking a Star Citizen and then thinking how Tie Fighter would look today makes me all giddy.. Come on Disney!!
1: X-Wing - See above add Death Star trench run. Disregard X-Wing Alliance, just give me a snubfighter and point me at the closest Star Destroyer. Lock S-Foils in attack position!
(I'm kind of a Star Wars geek, that might have influenced me a bit)
