I started this thread to hear thoughts of all techpowerups greatest minds.
I drooled over the prebuy deal on steam of this upcomming game.
I knew how ROME2 let us adrift like a ship in desert sands.
I see the CHAOS being offered as bait as the sharks in my heart sought release.

As the title says... Prebuy or wait, cast your votes and speak your mind.

Its not EA and not CD project red, that has been ripping pre buyers or giving the pay to win mentality to the masses. But as I said about ROME 2, they did made a mistake back then.

Personally I love the TOTAL WAR Series, and just casually liking FPS. So as you respected my thread enough as to give your honest oppinion without bias, you have my thanks little cat.

Didn't this game give a whole race as a pre-order bonus?

Yeah, and I guess that is the real problem here.

Creative Assembly proved themselves somewhat with Rome 2, which is now a fantastic game. But at release it wasn't really good at all.
I certainly hope they better prepared for it this time. Attila didnt give me much hope.

But still, its Warhammer and its Total war, I have already gived in and pre-ordered it...

For me, I am going to wait about 6 months when the game is mostly patched up and cheaper. I love the Total War games. I have logged over 300 hours on empire total war.

Totalwar series is not RTS. It is TBS + RTT.

To OP I think you should wait. Do you remember when Rome II launch with horrible optimization. My old i7-3770K @ 5Ghz + HD7970 @ 1150Mhz can't break 10FPS when zoom in large battle. I have to wait for 1 years for better optimization.

But as I said about ROME 2, they did made a mistake back then.

However, fully patched it's a great game. Add mods, and it's a work of art. :)

Personally, I would wait, and see how it turns out. They are delving into completely uncharted territory for them, and I have my doubts CA can pull it off.

@yotano211 Get out there an play some more Empire! IIRC, I think I have 1,400 hours in on that, which is insane.:twitch:

Wait. Total War games have always had significant issues with processor usage (in that they're incapable of using multiple threads).

I have no doubt the gameplay will be deep, and the lore interesting, but the FPS figures in performance analysis articles may be a large deciding factor.

Thanks for all the votes and your thoughts @Enterprise24 ,@rtwjunkie, @MustSeeMelons and @RCoon . So the majority is to wait with @Nokiron being the only one who bought already.

CA never does a "Season Pass" while the DLC's are not designed to rob you, so to wait for a better packaged deal is ok. I bought my complete SHOGUN 2 on a steam sale and a "Grand Collection" later on which is in my mind a nice deal.

I know the gaming comunity needs to fight the big companies as we are fighting corporate greed. But we can also fight while giving other companies a pass, as they have proven themselves exceptional. Lets see the other guest and users comments

And please be honest if you bought and regret, we dont judge.

if i might , i would like to offer my experience . I have made what some might consider a Large amount of game purchases over the years, and I like to find the best deals possible. from my personal experience, your best bet in regards to "getting a killer deal" is to wait until the "launch hype" starts up. this period of time can vary, but it tends to be anywhere from a month, to a week of official retail launch. atleast regarding my definition of "launch hype" meaning when stores who sell the item start to offer deals etc...

as an example. when buying Fallout 4 before launch, the best price i got, without waiting Past release ,was around a week or so of launch. I got it for 20% off iirc, and I had the benefit of being able to see a few "early release" previews on youtube/twitch.

i can think of no benefit to Pre-buy from a cost stand point, or any other, aside from being excited its coming out. You'll likely pay more, and if/when any regretable delays occur, you'll feel a LOT more slighted than you would had You NOT preordered it.

anyway, my two cents, best of luck,

Thanks @jboydgolfer , sorry if I get it wrong but its like "Hype" is the most happily sounding words during the period before or after the launch. Its one of those cool words other than "Viral" that makes you want to check it out. The "Hype" here in Jakarta is the "Dawn of Justice" movie (Didnt want to spell the main 2 characters)

While others are more skeptical as I am to a games first release due to problems caused by sloppy quality control. You're input was quite insightful to the trends and as you say a month to a week after launch. Its certainly as the reviewer Angry Joe stated that we need to stop pre buying things, I dont know if Total Biscuit said the same.

Come one Come all, speak your minds!

That's why they decided to collaborate with AMD, in order to use more cores through DX12.

Only game I preordered was Rome 2 Total War. Gained some worthy bonuses. Game wasn't awful to begin with as my HW didn't have any problem to handle it without CTD or BSOD. Gameplay though had problems and it was much better after the first 3 months having patched a lot. Due to this experience I cannot strongly advice anyone not to preorder a game from a well known publisher but in most occasions I wouldn't preorder for sure.
