Looks nice, but this will all come down to how they handle and support the multiplayer ecosystem.

And how motion feels like. Quake and all UT's had superb movement feel. But for example the free Nexuiz had really weird feel to it when free looking or moving. And there is also a weapons and models factor. Quake 3 and UT were so awesome due to crazy number of really cool player models. Same for Quake with funky techno-punk models. So far i've only seen recolored humanoids which are a bit boring. ANd weapons, they just have to feel punchy and awesome. Have to see that in person myself to decide.

I think this game will be a flash in the pan at best. Could be wrong however. Just remember there is a reason games like this died out. I reinstall Quake 3 sometimes to remind myself where we were and where we are going.

I think games like this died out because the focus turned more towards immersion and graphics at that time. I hope this game is good, I wouldn't mind a replacement for my occasional playing of UT2K4.

NS2 a game I play very frequently is more of an old school twitch shooter. It sold very well, but has not been able to hold a sizable playerbase. Toxxic, is much more simple and I would expect it to have better retention. As a younger gamer, I am finding I much prefer these style games. Retro is in these days it seems.
