get the polling to get the game....

then get the specified deadline to submit the review...

a body of judges...W1Z and Kursah and at least 2 more people review the submitted game reviews...

    post the 5 best reviews....

post and vote for the best review....

judges determine the winner based on polls and the judges own input....

winner gets a game and the first honors to the first offical review....

then from all the review submissions you can decide who will embody your core game reviewers....

develop the forum based on the reviews and input from all that participate...game insight, comments, patches, help etc....

this could be real exciting and beneficial to all that visit and participate....

Kursah....your vision to encourage the developement of GPU was excellent on your part....:toast:

I like that, we may have to start a new thread, but first I think we need to find out whom all wants to be involved. There are many games out that a lot of people could have, and some collaberation between the community and we will be set to do this.

I really like your thoughts HAL, excellent idea! Thanks for your support and compliments! :toast:

    *bump*

Who all has Far Cry? It's free! And even though it's what 3 years old? It could be a good viable start for just trying out some different reviews to be submitted. I may even do one myself, it's been a while since I reviewed a game (I did a review for Killzone PS2 a long time ago...). But if anyone's up for it, that wouldn't hurt, neither would Bioshock, I don't have it yet, but I know a few of you do! :toast:

Damn...I wish I had time to. Maybe I'll find it and see how it is, but first complaint of mine is at medium settings...it looks way worse than the source engine at medium settings.

And that's stuff that consumers find out that sometimes gets missed in Pro reviews, it's things like that can let a person know if it's worth it because a Gamer found that out with a similar system as theirs.

Anyone who wants to get involved should! We need to show W1z and TPU that this is something serious that we support and want to be involved in! :rockout:

I'd be happy to help out posting gaming news if you want W1zz ;)

I would also be glad to do reviews, but unfortunately my PC is a little slow (unless you're planning Wii reviews too?!).

That'd be cool to post gaming news, I'm sure many would enjoy it!

Also, I want to see lower end and mid-end PC's doing more of the reviews than hi-end uber PC's that the pro's use! Let's give gamers out there with a budget a chance to see if that game they want is worth the investment or if it's more of a headache than it's worth!

Also, I believe W1z mentioned something about Consoles earlier in this thread, so that's still on the table! And why not? Gaming consoles not a part of a gaming section?

Good idea, and I suppose there could be a way when during registry of new users to have the option to register for both forums or just the one they want to use...or just auto register at both. Could be a good deal! :toast:

    I like Frogger's idea!

I am downloading FarCry currently. I have about a medium-low system spec. Perhaps a few thoughts and screenies, as well as a vid.

Uhh is there already a forum or something? Why not have both in one? Maybe set up a system where you can switch between the two or something. Maybe take the games section and divide that up into different sections? Like RPG, MMO, FPS, etc. Then have a general games section....uhh jeez this is getting complicated....then for each of the genre sections have it split into the 3 different game consoles and pc. Then you'd need a section for reviews and etc....wow...uhh I think I confused myself.

    Top down. PC, Console, Portable?

The Games could be listed as basic types. Shooter, RPG, RTS, Racing. Then types of game, solo, multi, massive multi.

Sounds good to me, but it also depends on the depth that people want to put into this thing. It depends on those that are willing to get involved and keep it going, but I forsee no hardships that way! :D

Keep the ideas rollin guys! They're excellent!

What kind of scoring system do you all think we should use? There's the 5/5, 10/10, 100/100, etc, stars, logos, medals...what kind of consistent grade scale and considerations for gradings should be considered?

Well i like the 10/10 scoring system, it should be 1 worst and 10 best IMO

i like gamepowerup too,and also i googled it,and theres lots of referances to here.it will give this site a lot more hits on google(which aint no bad thing) with that name too.

    i'd say 10/10 scoring too,or possibly 100/100%

I also prefer 10/10 system also, it has some complication if you go .1 or .5 increments, but nothing like a percentage (100/100) scoring system does.

Good to know tigger, I didn't try googling it, but hell the traffic is there, we just need to get things going and utilize it.

What about review layouts? Should it be one base layout for all game reviews? Seperate for PC/Consoles?

Yeah, performance really isn't a issue on consoles minus load times. The games are made for the platform with a standardization, unlike PC's where there are so many configurations.

10/10 seems like the way to go. Most people will read the review, then form a idea in their mind, and be only marginally influenced by a score except the final, and then only to confirm or make them question the review, or the game.

Gaining credibility is going to be a hard one, we need to be consistent, and repeatable. So if anyone has a hacked system, or has issues, they need to correct the problems, or not step up. For example someone with a 40GB HDD is going to have poor performance loading game levels compared to someone with a SAS disk. So somewhere in the low, medium, and top end of systems specifications need to be set. I would suggest looking to Steams hardware list to find what others are actually playing on. It surprises me the numbers of people playing with what we consider unusable hardware. http://www.steampowered.com/status/survey.html

    Just a thought.
