transitioning away from dell

I'm so sick to death of dell. I bought a dimension 4700 2 years ago and ever since then it has proven to be a waiste of money...

My question is simple: I have an Intel 3GHz HT single core 32bit processor, LGA 775... Can I temporarily use this processor on a new 975x chipset motherboard (conroe) until i can afford a conroe processor for the motherboard?

yes you can. and acutally i would build a bew rig but only buy what you currently need. im guessing a video card along with the new mobo but the ram will be able to carry over. so mobo video card case psu and a good heatsink will be needed but harddrives ram cd drives ect will carry over seemlessly

great... Yea, currently I have an X1800XL Oc'd to 700/700, after market psu, 2gb of ram, x-fi plat, and a tv tuner card...

All I'm going to need is a motherboard and case... I can't wait man. This setup only scores 7075 on 3dmark05. I've seen people with similar setups getting into 10k with similar clock speeds on the card.

well there are some quite solid motherboards coming out in the next few months. im not a real expert on the skt t mobos but im sure someone on here will point you in the right direction.

*will be DDR2... Both AMD and Intel will be using DDR2 with their newest additions. I was thinking of upgrading to an AM2 socket motherboard but if I upgrade to conroe I can space things out better...
