Update:

Ugh, still getting issues with FPS spikes & lower FPS issues. Even with bumping up my clocks... I think I'm starting to step away from the graphics card issue (all of the issues seem to be pointing somewhere else now) and see what else it could be. :banghead:

thoughts?

maybe its your cpu going from 1000mhz to 2200mhz, alot of laptops do this to save power, it would explane y your frames are going up and down.

That actually makes a lot of sense -I know that Notebook Hardware Controls used to take care of this magnificently on Windows XP... I'm having a hard time finding a working version of it (or something like it) for Windows Vista 64 bit though :banghead:

Hey, yeah. As I suggested you could try and check your Vista Powerconfigs and find the values that control your cpu... Put everything to 100% there and you SHOULD be fine, although I'm not so sure about it. You could try http://cpu.rightmark.org/ (Rightmark CPUClocktool); it can do pretty much the same things as NHC, but is a bit harder to use. I'm not sure it works on 64bit, but give it a shot (like you did with the newest amdgpuclocktool ^^.

Also, I use pretty much default settings on CCC and try to apply filters and stuff from ingame... I've noticed some games get very, very bad fps if you enable Narrow or wide-tent antialiasing instead of box. (Hell, even the Chess game in Vista started to stutter)...
I don't know why your card locks up past 600mhz, but mine makes 681mhz without artifacts; anything higher gives random artifacts and anything higher than ~710mhz makes the card crash on heavy load (e.g. in good looking games  ) You might also wanna check if there is no background activity, like Windows Defender or what not, hogging your CPU and HDD.

Good luck. :toast:

P.S. I use the old AMDGPUClocktool (v0.7) because for some reason, either using ATITool or the new AMDGPUClocktool makes the card run really hot and disables powerplay until reboot... I've also had the 0.9.8 crash my pc for no apparent reason (for instance while just opening to program to check the temps), so I'm sticking to 0.7.

Tried the new RightMark clock tool - no dice.

I think I'm going to give Clockgen a go at some point and see if I can force the clock to sit at 2200 through that.

I just miss the old NHC that would allow you to set your notebook to maximum performance and then it would push the clock to the speed it should be at, and monitor the heat for you and everything *sigh*.:shadedshu

So I haven't downloaded ClockGen yet.... but did a nice system reformat :banghead: so time to see how it works defaulted prior to any changes.

Update:

My clockgen sais that my CPU is running at 2200 MHz - so that doesn't appear to be what is giving me the sort of lagged "glitching" forward feeling I get while flying around outland.

I wish there was a tool that I could use to increase the fan speed so that I can keep the system cooler. I'm wondering if overheating seems to have anything to do with my low FPS issues and "glitching forward" feeling

currently running at 70 degrees C and I've seen it get up to over 100 degrees C when overclocking my GPU.

Any thoughts or ideas? Running at 445 MHz GPU by 346 MHz Memory.
