Turn photo scan into text

I have a HP PSC 2410 photosmart all-in-one printer and i want to scan a picture of text in a book to be able to put in a program like word. Is this possible?

Omnipage is the best ocr around, but not free of course...their basic version is usually packages with most scanners.

your printer has Integrated ReadIRIS Pro optical character recognition (OCR) software...
just scan to a word-processing program..

The process of changing text from an image to editable text is called optical character recognition or OCR. Text should convert automatically in OCR when the Send To destination is a word-processing program.

I found ABBYY FineReader 8.0 Professional Edition and it works great. Thanks for your help
