[WTB] [UK] AMD Athlon 64 X2 AM2 (first gen)

Hello, i'm looking for an amd athlon x2 am2 cpu for a friends pc. Currently she's bought a 9800gt and 4gb ram for it but it still has a 3800 single core cpu so that needs to go. Anything 65w 3800 x2 and above should do. :toast:

reread original post. there are also no known dual core chips released on s754 per AMD, many rumors of a mobile chip no one has seen.

I'm fairly certain the 6000 was 125w and this has to run on a 250w psu (12v1 14a 12v2 8a) with a 9800gt green edition so chances are it will be a bit unstable + more costly than a lower end one. If it costs too much to get an amd athlon cpu i'll just try to souce her a newer motherboard for a core 2 duo or a athlon 2 and sell her old stuff. Right now she has a 3800+ 2.4ghz single core, 1gb ram (with 4gb ram arriving soon) and a gimped asus m2n mobo (packard bell oem) so we could sell that for £30 or so and spend £50 to get something better.

Not related but i'll be putting up some stuff for free later - a s478 pentium 4 2ghz, celeon m 1.3ghz and 2x256mb ddr2 laptop ram. Anyone interested in any of that stuff?

Hi, the athlon x3 isn;t compatible but how much would you want for the other two? It's an AM2 motherboard so the only one that would work would be the 4000 going by the links, how much would you want for it? Might be a bit slow so i'll see what rhythemeiser comes back with.

Also do you have any heatware or feedback?

How much would you want for it? I see you're from spain so shipping might be a bit more than the UK and it would take a while to keep costs down.

Because I am concerned for the safety of the rig that the CPU you buy will be going in, what brand and model number is the 250w PSU?

About 80w power draw for a 65w TDP CPU, + peripherals (~80w, HDD+motherboard+fans, DVD-ROM) + GPU (~100w)...unless the 250w PSU is underrated or from a brand like Seasonic I'd be pretty afraid to do that.

It's a 'trust' psu. It has dual 12v rails 12v1 = 14a 12v2 = 8a so not amazing but it can cope with a 65w cpu. I think it's 300w actually.

Looks like internally it would be geared more toward P3/Athlon XP, probably strong 5v rail (if you can call it strong) and weak 12v...it might even just be a single rail on 12v.

A lot of PSU's like that blow up around 150-200w, and ripple is often out of ATX spec after 100 or so...

Is it a SFF or does her PC use a full size PSU? If it's that size that was used in the Soltek Qbic series and other similar sized machines I've got a nice Enermax PSU giong spare that's got a decent 12V rail and is VERY quiet...I'd just need to find out which box I put it away in to move house a few months ago!
