I came across a new UniGine demo called Tropics which can be used for benchmarking as well. Not used it yet myself (at work) but looks good.

    Download HERE

    Features:
Support of DirectX 9, DirectX 10 and OpenGL
    Dynamic sky with light scattering
Live water with a surf zone and caustics
    Special materials for vegetation
    HDR rendering
    Parallel split shadow map
    Depth of field
    Real-time ambient occlusion
    Benchmark mode

    --

As mentioned in the thread, lets stick to the following settings so we can compare socres:

1280*1024, 4xAA, all other settings at stock. (as below)

When you get your results press the F12 key and you'll find the screenie in C:\Program Files\Unigine\Tropics\screenshots\

Whoah! My first run and it was close to watching a slideshow :D

I managed around 6-7 fps oin average. Here's my screen:

I also ran the Santuary one and personally I think that one is much better: good use of lighting, texture, fogging, depth of field, HDR and viewing from stain glass windows - even runs at a decent rate. :)

I think the OP should decide on a resolution to run this as a couple of different ones have been used already, might I suggest 1280 to cater for all members. Are you going to have league tables? and if so, would you decide on which bench run you would like and wether point or FPS is what will count as this could be a nice bench......might I suggest adding FPS and score together to give overall score for the bench?

    I've edited the opening post.

I reckon we should bench at 1280*1024 with 4xAA.

Here's my score with these settings:

Nice looking benchmark. As soon as I get my CPU, I will be posting some results. Also probably need to pick between DX9 and DX10 as that should cause drastic differences in performance.

I reckon we can have both on here. Otherwise, if we really must have one then it has to be DX9 as not everyone can run DX10.

I reckon the cpu plays a big part in this demo as other results I've seen seem to fair much better with dual or quad cores.
Also you're right about the tide, shadows, etc.
I'm not sure if anyone has setup the Santuary demo (scroll down from the link in OP) I find that one is much better in terms of showcasing some effects.

I'm surprised you of all people suggested it.

I don't understand why people run these tests at such low resolutions, especially knowing that most high end cards can perform worse at lower resolution.

I also don't see the point of people who obviously have inadequate hardware, even bothering with these in the first place, unless it's just for a quick giggle to see their score; but to bring it online, as if to compare with other people seems absurd considering what they're up against.

We're at a time when 1280X1024 is finally being phased out as a common resolution.

If you want to run that low fine, but the results tell me nothing.

    Show me 1680X + and I'm interested.

thing is 1280x1024 really isn't being phased out most people still use that or 1440x900 average LCD size is still 17-19in

I hear what your saying ....and yes it is for giggles, I dont think any relatively new benchmark can be taken too seriously as Mullered has said, I suggested 12xx purely because I beleive a bench (any bench) should cater for the majority, the OP has at least suggested AA/AF enabled which not only makes it a little more realistic as far as how many of us game is concerned but hopefully should put a little more emphasis on the GPU...............as for me, I always prefer to see benches/tests at my 19xx res purely because thats whats important to me, but I am well aware that with that res.....I am in the minority.

I get the feeling this demo, favours Ati over Nvidia. I got an average FPS of 43.2. Would have posted up the results but the app crashed when I tried to choose a save location. it was trying to save on A: :wtf:

Will give Sansctuary a whirl now
