USB 3.0 Type-B to e-sata cable?

i am wondering if this cable exist, with a USB 3.0 Type-B connector in one end and a e-sata connector for e-sata 3 / 6gb/s in the other end.

I know you can get USB 3.0 Type-A to e-sata, like this one that StarTech makes:

but what i want is USB 3.0 Type-B which is this connector for the ppl that don't know it:

it would like to use my USB 3.0 enclosure on my e-sata ports on the back of my MSI Z97I Gaming AC board, and maybe add one more if i can find this cable...

I would say no. I think the one you showed with the type A plug is essentially and USB3.0 to Esata adaptor using some kind of controller in the black box, pretty much the same as on a motherboard. That wouldn't really work if plugged in reversed with the Esata part in the computer. It was meant for external HDDs with no USB3.0 which had Esata though, which was faster than USB2.0. Why not just use an USB port with a normal cable, esata would be no faster?

Type B is intended to plug into peripherals, Type A is intended to plug into devices.

The correct approach here is to get a new enclosure. If you don't want to, you could try to get an A female -> B male adapter but there's a very good chance it won't work (they are intended to go from eSATA enclosure to USB3 computer port.

Does your motherboard have a USB3 header on it? If it does, you could just buy an expansion slot bracket to give your computer USB3 ports to plug it into without messing with eSATA. Alternatively, you could buy a 2-port USB3 PCI Express or 4-port USB3 PCI Express card.

Going from a USB3.0 port on the computer to an eSATA on the drive works, but going the other way isn't nearly as easy. The reason being that you are going between two different protocols, so you need a controller to translate between them. That is the black box you see in the first picture. Now that controller requieres power to work. The USB3.0 port on the computer provides that power. However, eSATA does not provide power, it is a data only connection. So, the power would need to come from somewhere else, most easily a USB port...which kind of makes the idea useless.

my enclosure has a power adapter so power ain't a problem...

and Ford i only have a ITX board and the only PCI-Express slot is having a MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4gb in it...

Yes, power is a problem. There is no way to feed power to the controller necessary to translate from USB3.0 to eSATA.

Just buy a USB3.0 hub.

no no, what i mean is my enclosure got a real power adapter so it don't uses power with usb :banghead:

That's not what he's referring to. You need power for the controller in the black box that converts between the protocols. eSATA cannot provide this power, and regular USB doesn't provide for power flow from the B to the A connector. USB OTG does, but your enclosure and all the others I know do not support USB OTG.

problem is that every enclosure i can almost find is either sata 2 or for 2,5 inch drives and would be a lot slower then USB 3.0 which just don't make since that MSI keep using one or two sata ports as e-sata's on their ITX boards....

You're putting hard drives in the enclosures, correct? Hard drives that will never even come close to maxing out a SATA2 connection...

SATA bandwidth is per port (all SATA versions are backwards compatible):
SATA 1.0 = 150 MB/s (only 4TB 7200 RPM or 10,000/15,000 RPM drives can saturate it; in other words, if it is an HDD, it is perfectly fine on the original SATA spec)
SATA 2.0 = 300 MB/s
SATA 3.0 = 600 MB/s
SATA 3.2 = 1969 MB/s

USB bandwidth is shared across the entire hub:
USB 1.1 = 1.5 MB/s (a single DVD drive can saturate it)
USB 2.0 = 35 MB/s (a single 40 GB drive from 10 years ago can saturate it)
USB 3.0 = 625 MB/s
USB 3.1 = 1250 MB/s

SATA is the best technology for storage devices.

Not if it's an HDD. They are not even maxing out first generation SATA, as Ford says in his last post.

You only have to worry about SATA version if you are using a high performance (> 150 MB/s) SSD.

Then buy a 2.5" SATA 3.0 enclosure. 600 MB/s will satisfy most SSDs out there and your motherboard can take it.

Could you please list the equipment you currently have (drives and enclosures) and the USB3 and eSATA ports available on your computer? Don't list any ports (e.g. front) that you don't intend to use for the drives/enclosures. We can tell you what drives belong in what enclosures on which ports and what hardware you require to finish your project.

You can do USB3 computer -> eSATA enclosure but you can't do eSATA computer -> USB3 enclosure.

they run off the Intel Z97 chipset so they are 600MB/s...
