which do all of you think is better?

and not specifically Verizon DSL or FIOS...

just in general, do you prefer: Verizon or the local cable company?

I think it depends on your area. I don't think anyone's gonna beat what you have now without FIOS.

yea, but everyone that i know that has had verizon, including my old vocational school and everything. they have all been screwed out of bandwidth by verizon so badly. i mean yea they have fios now, but its not that big of a deal all they do is run the fiber to your house. where are with most cable companies, they have fiber running along the telelphone poles which split off into coaxial that runs into your house...

so i just wanted to see other peoples opinions.

Guess I'm not qualified to answer. I've only known dial-up and Roadrunner.

No. Roadrunner came after dial-up. I don't remember what my work uses, but it's limited and proxy-protected anyway.

i like it more now that they have unlimited texting. that made me so mad that they were basically the only major carrier that didn't have an unlimited texting option available. As far as the service, i love verizon. But i have a few things i dislike about their phones. 1) The selection of Verizon phones arent the greatest. This is for people who dont really want to do alot with their phones. and 2) (this one is a small thing) I hate how you cant customize your phone much. Like on my RAZR, the external LCD always stays the same red color (versus RAZR's on other carriers which reflect on the external LCD what appears on the main screen) Other than those few complaints, Verizon is a good carrier...So i got pretty far off the original topic which was Internet.

I customize my LGVX8300. Get Bitpim.

External wallpaper. Inside wallpaper. Made mp3s into ringtones (Audacity to edit), and assigned different ones to different people. Even assigned pictures to people. Turned off EV-DO (didn't need Bitpim), and more.

I voted Verizon. My cable company is Comcast. Bunch of price-gouging arseholes. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with Comcast cause Verizon doesn't offer Fios in my area as of yet, and the DSL service is still slower than my cable.
