    Same.

The only time I would ever buy a used part if it had a nice warranty on it.

Yeah when there's no guarantee whatsoever on the part you can't return it if it starts to become faulty in any way. Drawback for a few more money. And people actually do this mistake to "save" money.

And besides if you don't like nVidia or ATI and would like to switch the card most shops give some a week of try out of the product and you can change it if you're not satisfied.

well win xp takes almost 128mb of ram just to run it, plus any programs you run will use another 30 or so.

when you say you have 256mb ram, in reality you only have about 100mb that is left for you to to use.

after your video card runs out of its measly 64mb of ram it "borrows" what it needs from the system ram and if there isnt enough it crashes or frame rates slow to a crawl.

to improve this computer all i would recommend doing is to up the ram to 512mb and a cheap video card.
this computer is just to old to be good for anything but homework and a web surfer, and a slow one at that lol.

now after giving the reasons why your system is maxed out as is, i think your problem is actually a power supply filled with dust and overheating. follow the guide in my sig and clean the dust out of your computer AND psu. that should get you up and working again. you get working again and we can guide you through steps to make your limited ram as good as it can be by adjusting settings to reduce things wasting resources. after that you need to save up your money and replace your whole system.

when you are ready and you have a budget to work with we will help you design a system to fit your needs.

or you could ask santa for a new computer :D

We could help in any aspect of that :p Just list the budget and what use you want and we'd list you up with more than 1 system to choose from ;)

Memtest: no errors after 10 hrs.
I'm going to perform the Primetest, later on. Get back to you on that.
I'm going to take it step by step, guys. I need to find the problem with this current computer. I might have to upgrade some components, so that it is still runnable. As for the new one, yes....i will build on it later. I need to find something decent 'gaming experience', all suggestions appreciated. THanks.

ditto. many of us are skilled at coming up with systems in a matter of a few minutes if you give us some things to work from, like the budget and what you want the computer to be used for etc. etc.

I have $100 and need a new system? would you suggest pentium 1? lmao I remember 2 years ago I got a full P1 system at $45 inc. keyboard, mouse & 15" monitor. It's had an AT board 813mb HDD and 64mb of ram not to mention 2mb graphics and 90MHz cpu running on windows 98. I got hold of a second AT based pc similar to the previous one and thats where I used to do for experimenting.

So lets face it we do systems of $45 +++ Budgets lmao

    budget: preferably around $1000-$1300
Uses: games like counterstrike, conqueronline, warcraft... (this is the about as far as i go), nothing like doom which requires high graphics.

depending on his wishes, we can increase the cooling on the card to an hr 03, and/or upgrade the card (but he said he wanted midrange), possible go x38 if he wants, though i dont think thats a great idea, needs a new case, thats about it, i wouldn't want to select a case just cause theres a lot of good ones out there and so its up to him as to what he wants ,though i would suggest replacing the stock fans with nice performing fans. i think that floppy cable is uv reactive too..

Must agree on your case. APEVIA makes some nice smart cases. I just have generic cases for my desktops :( lol

We didn't give him an overpriced system he just stated what he needs. Also he has quite some time on a quad. Given he's still running 2.4 solo (not that theyre bad Im using one right now) So this guy plans into sticking with his systems for some time.
