Here's my top 5 saddest moments in video gaming history. What are your top 5 saddest moments?

    1. Metal Gear Solid 1, where Snake has to leave Meryl to die...
    2. Resident Evil : Code Veronica where Steve dies in Claire's arms..
    3. Final Fantasy 7, where Aeris dies...
    4. Metal Gear Solid 2, where Otacon's sister dies...

So you play games where you kill hundreds of people yet you think people dying make up for the saddest moments?

There is an alternate ending to #1 where Meryl does not die. Too bad the same can't be said about #3.

i've played alot of games but I only have one sad moment and that is when Half-Life was released, hear me out. when Gabe Newell licensed the Quake Engine from ID it was the beginning of the end for the Quake Franchise in my time Quake was bigger than Life mods like Team Fortress paved the way for Class Based Shooters without a doubt Valve's success is based on ID innovation and Counter-Strike alot of people think that Counter-Strike is based on a Quake 1 Mod called "Navy Seals" so when you think about it Valve doesn't have much going for them than the Half-Life 1/2 Single Player Campaign, Brilliant Marketing and of course Steam but that comes after the fact. Whether you agree with me or not the outcome is sad.

not quite true, compare HL engine to Quake 1 engine, there is a reason Half Life one is called Gold SRC, they made alot of updates to the quake 1 engine, alot, and some of the stuff that you can do is being found out at the Half Life Improvment Team, or HIT for short.

Perpixel lighting, bumb mamping, shaders ect. Its actully amazing what the Gold SRC engine can do, it based on quake 1 but is more feature rich than Quake 3. If it was Quake1 engine, they would have to show ID's logo, and they never did, because it was so far seperated. Quake is good don't get me wrong, but Valve rewrote the FPS. And besides ID is old hat now a days, Quake 4 is Quake 2 with better graphics and Doom 3 is Doom in 3d. They gotta start thinking about more than a slaughter fest in there SP, less straighforward and more puzzles and then they have a shot at me caring agian. Carmack was good back then, but the Genre moved on, so i say to carmack, do something or leave us in peace.

The death of the Dreamcast and Xbox1 has got to be the saddest in my eyes.

Xbox 1 isn't dead mate. I play more Xbox 1 games then 360 games on my 360.
Don't know if you know this, but Xbox 1 games get 1080i resolution, Anti-aliasing and Anisotropic filtering on the 360. I play all my Xbox 1 games on a 1080p tv and some of them look better then 360 games.

Xbox 1 is dead. The whole modding scene isn't but M$ did away with releasing any new games.

It will be the same when the next Xbox gets released. But I didn't mind in this case because you can still play your old games on the new one, with better graphics...

I only buy Xbox because it has certain games that are not available on PS3. I know that Playstation consoles last longer and that the current console has a blueray player, but I just can't stop loving Halo, Quantum Redshift, Dead Or Alive, Rallisport challenge and all those others...

if it makes you feel better, I still play sonic adventure and zombie revenge on a regular basis... but my power button broke.
the saddest game day ever was when sega was leik "oh noes, we has no monies. workers, gtfo" and then they stopped making consoles.
