According to their webite http://allyours.virginmedia.com/websales/service.do?id=2
& junk mail Uk virgin media internet custermers with the 2mb connection are now ment to have been upped to 10mb.

Well has anyone had there 2mb connection upped to 10mb ? I havent.

Mines still 2mb :banghead: Been googling to find info on this & just as i thought it seems its another scam !

What i've found out on other forums is:

New customers will get the 10mb connection for one month then it drops to 2mb unless you phone them & get it put back up to 10mb at an extra £10 a month.

Existing 2mb customers will stay on the 2mb unless you phone them & ask to go on their 10mb connection. You then get 10mb for one month then as above, cough up or ya back on 2mb.

Oh & there 20mb isn't really 20mb its still 10mb ! As above its only 20mb for the first month then you have to pay extra to not get dropped to 10mb.

None of this is mentioned on their website you have to phone them & ask for this info.

If this is correct its totally missleading so how the hell they getting away with it

Erm....the 20MB IS 20MB...I've had the 20MB since it was launched, it was 20MB then, it's 20MB now, I get 18-20MB on speed tests.

2MB shouldn't even exist anymore unless you are an existing customer, or take out the ADSL package.

And £15 a month for 10MB? is that really that much of a stretch? You'll pay that for these bollocks "Up to 8MB" ADSL packages...

Ok i was just going by what i've read in other forums. Guess people are posting bull crap !

But yeah my 2mb is still 2mb same goes for my mates & fam who have been on the 2mb a while.

So if get disconnected & then reconnected & i'll get the 10mb yeah ?

Just seems unfair to existing 2mb users.

Honestly mate, I don't know.

Personally I love Virgin Media, the amount of crap I hear about VM goes against every experience I've had with VM. I call them up, I get through to someone straight away, and I'm never on the phone for more than 10 minutes and everything is sorted.

BTW, how much are you paying for your 2MB?

Do you have cable or ADSL?

We always got upgraded on cable as the packages changed. Stuck out here without cable now. But I have to say, ADSL with BT has been really good, other than peak times I get the full 8mbps download speed :rockout:

Yeah you should do that mate, we got our 20MB dropped to £30 a month by complaining about issues we had (modems that died every 3 weeks).

Honestly though, an extra £2 a month (after the first month) for another 8MB is more than worth it, plus VM has the best latencies for gaming ;)

Just did a test right now, got 17MB/s, so very close to my 20MB I pay for.

Last time we had problems with the speed (getting 2-3MB/s on speedtests) I called VM, told them what was happening, they sent out a new modem and that fixed everything.

Call them, it's free.

i'm on virgin media broadband for a year now,and i was on 4mb but i got free upgrade to 10mb with optic fibre cable and my parents are still paying the original amount per month as we did for 4mb,i think its only for people who are on 4mb connection for a year to get the 10mb upgrade for free
