I googled this but did not find anything.

I have not used Win7 at all, and my neighbor wants me to upgrade his rig from Vista to 7.
He uses Windows mail. I know that Win7 does not come with a mail client, but when you upgrade from Vista to Win7 will it leave the existing windows Mail client alone (as in not remove it).

Anything else I should be aware of that might cause grief? He is a basic computer user and does not have anything fancy on his computer.

    Thanks.

I know that. What I want to know is if you are using Windows Mail in Vista and do an upgrade to 7 if Win7 will whack Windows Mail and force you to go to WLM, and also if it will leave existing mail folders and such alone.

Okay, now I have two responses that contain information that is completely irrelevant to the question I asked. Anyone want to tell me about how Win7 cured their herpes or something?
Maybe I phrased the question in too complex of a manner ?

What happens to Windows Mail when you update from Vista to 7 ?

I wager you can export your settings from Windows Mail, then import them to the new Windows Mail. But that's just a guess. I wish I knew the real answer, but I've been using nothing but Gmail since it came out.

It gets rid of Windows Mail, yes. Upgrading from Vista to 7 puts the entire Vista install into a folder named Windows.old. Everything must be reinstalled.

    Kreij says thanks.
