I still think System Shock 2 is the best game ever. Followed by the original Deus Ex. Maybe not the best selling games but certainly one of the most fun, long, complex with really immersive story, characters and environments. The sort of games where you feel developers really devoted all their passion for gaming into their product.

Heroes of Might and Magic III Complete is what I voted for. Yes, better than Deus Ex. Yes, better than Fallout 2. Almost better than life.

BTW, can we see how the games fare somewhere? Should be interesting to see it.

That's odd, Frick. There is nothing in the body of the e-mail other than a little text and a link.
The header info looks fine too.
    Frick says thanks.

I can't believe that no one has actually voted for the original Doom!!! That pretty much started the revolution of PC gaming!

Sad that despite trying to type it in multiple times Machines (PC) (Acclaim Entertainment - 1999) didn't come up as an option.
So second choice then. Civilization IV.

I never played Doom, TBH, but I once played the first episode of Wolfenstein on the 300MHz AMD K-6-II based Win 98 pc during my teen years (then the game was already considered a classic, in the early 2ks).

I did not know what game could be considered the very best ever, so I decided to pick a game I will always remember, i.e. Metroid Prime. https://www.playfire.com/bestgame/YAGFA3

I considered Metro 2033 too, because of the same reason, but that game is not a fair choice because it is based on a book (making the game good, story wise, is then a lot easier IMO)

Runner-ups are (in no specific order): Metro 2033, Tales of Symphonia, Minecraft, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, Age of Empires, Empire Earth, (list may potentially be longer but I think it is enough).
