VRM temp reading 980TI classified

i thought since the 780ti/980ti pcbs were the same the vrm temps would be showing after upgrading but, its not.

is there a good chance it could happen and is there anything i can do it help?

Not sure but @W!zzard might be able to help if it's a GPU-Z issue. On a side note - what clocks have you managed and are you on air or water (given there isn't a full cover block for it yet)? I was waiting for a Classy but I've heard (from the Kingpin forums) that overvolting does not benefit Maxwell unless the temps are really low (<20 degrees) - thanks to @Finners for the heads up. He said that ambients of 20-60 ish didnt deliver any discernible OC advantage on voltage and LN2 or DICE was needed. In other words, a Classy is wasted on gamers as it wont overclock any better than any other card - it's far more of a silicon lottery as a low voltage chip (high ASIC?) will have more TDP headroom.

TBH, on air its tough to get past 1500-1505 stable no matter the voltage. card boosts to 1405 @1.220-1.224 (via DMM) out of the box 73.5 ASIC. so far with just a fraction of testing i do see a small difference in stability over 40c but as you can imagine it's tough to really find out on air. long story short; it seems you heard right, maxwell doesn't behave anything like kepler or fermi. still like have a DMM hooked up w/a probe it - or so i keep telling myself.

since i posted it seems certain software - aida 64 - is having an issue reading the card. and now i am having some driver installations issues - using the nv_dispi.inf from a new driver let me install an old driver but now i am getting failed (re)installs.

gonna try and dual boot into W10 from W7 and see if something doesn't clear up.

RE drivers, you can use Display Driver Uninstaller to cleanup old/current GeForce video drivers, then do a fresh/clean driver install.

Also, why exactly do you modify your GeForce drivers this way?
I really do not think it is a good idea to mix a certain driver with an INF from another version - what exactly are you trying to accomplish doing that?

modding drivers is not new - well at least over on guru3d. there is nothing wrong with trying a driver to see if gives better stability there has been a number of times a quadro driver is more stable in game play then "regular" geforce drivers albeit with a slight fps decrease at times..

OK, but you must realize modding a driver this way may produce a non-working system, unless previously tested and known to work.
