You can flash in both windows and in DOS. My advice is that if you are unsure of the OC capabilities, flash to the unlocked PLL bios(no difference in clocks).

My advice is to OC it the way it is now and find its capabilities.

Then spend some time searching the HD3870 threads as much of this info has been covered a few times!

Also the Bios on your card will be shown in GPU-z ....Overclocking can be done with: ATITool/Rivatuner/CCC OD

If I read that correct 800/1200 is what your card is at now....Possibly using one of RandomMurderer's modded BIOS'

Thx, So i can use the PLL fix bios in the thread Random Murderer made, so i can just use winflash and go ahead. This bios unlocks HD 3870 to be able to pass 860 core correct?

Standard clocks of my Visiontek 3870 are 800/2400.

well I believe the PLL bios is 775/1125 stock clocks, where Randoms BIOS is higher clocks.

It is recommended to flash in DOS, but I and many others have flashed in Windows.

Lastly yes the PLL is to go past the 862 mark...Randoms BIOS is a modded(clocks) PLL unlocked BIOS.

If the core now will do 860 then yes go ahead , but make sure that clock is stable before the flash.

BTW I have to say this , that this will void your warranty and can possibly kill you card outright.

there have been a few issues with that. I personally never had a mismatch no too sure if it is ok to flash.

May want to wait for better advice on this part!

Random says if you use the HD38xx BIOS editor you should be able to fix the checksum that is causing the missmatch error.
