TechPowerUp needs you!

I found the VID programming byte sequence in 68x0 BIOSes and would like to test the impact of these settings being modded. So I'm once again looking for testers. I need people who possess a 68x0 video card and are able to flash BIOSes to their video card.

Anyone up for being the worldwide first possessor of a 68x0 which is volt modded via BIOS? Please post in this thread or send me a PN.

have test my card with softmod, up to 1.6V, but the bios mod always best :)

Hi! I would like to test it too. I have an XFX HD6850. Have already checked it's oc potential with afterburner so now I wanna flash new clocks/voltages to get rid of unneeded software in system tray :)

Hi BAGZZlash,

I know the title says 68x0 volt modding, but since the 69x0 have just been released I'd like to volunteer for 69x0 volt modding. My HD6970 should arrive tomorrow, so if there'll be need for testers count me in.

Hi, thank you. :toast: As the 69x0s use another new voltage controller chip I don't have a datasheet for there is no timing schedule for voltage support on those cards. I'll keep you posted as soon as I get new information.

@ all: No testing on volt modding concerning 68x0 is necessary any more. It works! I'll post a preliminary version for public testing soon.

Hi, I registred today, but I am very long fan of your work on RBE and other projects as well. I have one 6850 card ready to be flashed with whatever you will send me. Don´t worry, I flashed even this card many times by now, trying different things to do....

Anyway, I would be very glad to help.

EDIT: Well, now I see how big idiot I am for not reading entire posts. Still, I love your work....

I have a 6870 with an arctic cooling accelero extreme plus thats looking for a good time with a new bios!!!
What kind of settings are you looking at having tested, at the moment my card doesnt get over about 65c under full load running 970/1880, so i think it could probably take a reasonable amount of extra heat, given its cooling capacity so far.

ps. I just realised that i should have paid better attention to the previous post. Oh well.
However i am curious, did u get any tests done on 6870s?, or just on 6850???

how did it go, does it OC well, what kind of OC did you put on it, and what were your temps like, do you have a stock cooling on you card, and any idea of when we might see this translate into something i can use to push my card?

I hope thats not too many questions!

I only tested if the voltage control register values kicked in. I didn't perform any overclocking or temperature tests, I leave that to all of you great guys, the overclocking community. :toast:
RBE v1.27, carrying 68x0 voltage control capability, will be ready to be released within the next week, I hope.
