$71 for an 8gb kit is too expensive?

..with a good chance it OCs/tightens up/etc. really well? .
I say it's better than $60 for something you know is going to be junk.

..especially when NTM2003 is already looking at 1 8gb Hynix CAS 11 stick for $74

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
Junk sticks, EL OH EL Schmuckly. They will do what the sticker says.. its not junk. 99% of people here could care less what IC's are under the hood. I'd say that $11 buys my a nice 6 pack of beer, versus spending money on something that wont give any performance gains.

If the OP wants to spend $11 more for nothing, that isn't up to us though! :)

Pay attention to your audience. ;)

For someone with an SR2 with 2 pots ,4 GPUs with pots on them AND a RAM pot in their sig pic,you sure don't seem very enthusiastic about OCing RAM.

That's closer to $1k than $500 in pots alone..and here you are worrying about a nice 6-pack.

..not to mention a dewar..
Now excuse me,I'm going to go spend enough money to get a nice 6-pack on a bottle of LET.
:p

LOL, missed my edit... :)

That is because I am conscious enough to cater my suggestions to the audience I am replying to and their specific needs. I don't automatically assume, like you always do (remember our PM convo in february?), that people give a hoot about overclocking ram (useful only when benchmarking and using iGPUs for the most part) or the IC that is under the heatsink.

What I do (which the ava is not my picture, its Vince's setup just looks cool as hell) and what the OP does/needs/wants has NOTHING to do with each other....:shadedshu:

Ha! I was thinking: "That looks a Vince Lucido setup" :p
Hey..He's wanting some better RAMs ..there's nothing wrong with that,is there?
The IC that's under that heatsink is very important in determining if you can play with your RAM or not..or how you can play with it..
I'm not a super-RAM guy or anything..
I know who is..and they're not me :D
I don't mind pointing something out which might be better than something else, though.
..Like when Pioneer told me to get those $40 Samsungs..
I listened to him..and did it..and was impressed and happy. :D
..for a little while..

CAS 11 @ 2400 IS junk.All that Hynix CAS11 stuff is junk...unless you're going for a frequency valid.
Definitely not better for daily.
High latency=slow responses.
I'm not sure how they went from "Factory fire, zomy!Jack RAM prices!" to dominating the market.

i kind of skimmed the thread & skipped page 2... my input is, if prices are fairly close, why not get the tighter ram? i've got CMY8GX3M2B2133C9R for a 7850k (corsair vengeance 2x4gb 2133mhz CL 9 as opposed to other sticks with CL 11 or something loose)

the potential is... if overclocking (the cpu including cpu:ram ratios), tighter sticks might be able to go further even if they have to be loosened

http://www.corsair.com/en/blog/2014/february/understanding-kaveri here are some great charts for clear comparisons & to visualize how different speeds WITH different timings relate to each other, but of course it wont be much difference for non apu uses

ok..
This what I run for daily: http://valid.x86.fr/t4bnnm

edit:That is wrong and I need to load daily profile..brb

OK,I run this for daily: http://valid.x86.fr/mmuvh3

The OP doesn't care what you run daily, nor have they mentioned whether they are into OC'ing, nor are they hard core RAM enthusiasts. Judging by the OP, they are asking a very simple question and asking for some very simple advice. You are horribly horribly overcomplicating this entire situation, and I almost doubt the OP cares what is under the hood, provided it has lifetime warranty and runs at decents speeds, and runs at the speeds it's advertised at for the duration of it's life.

Looks to me like they're asking for advice on decent ram with reasonable speeds at a reasonable price. Nothing more. This is not the only thread you've derailed with ram overclocking debates either.

Now back on topic please.
