I started this topic to discuss anything related on both of these great drives!

I am a proud owner of 2x SAMSUNG HD502HJ and 2x WesternDigital WD6401AALS. Please post/share your hdtune raid 0 results here ! Also share your experiences on performance/reliabilty on the drives. For me these are the best 7200rpm drives atm. Do you agree?

My result on asus maximus extreme x38/ich9r mobo using 2x SAMSUNG HD502HJ RAID 0

Will post results when i build a 2x WesternDigital WD6401AALS RAID 0 array

Please leave your vote in my poll!

In a state of flux...
I have both the WD & Samsung on their own and while they are both great drives the 640GB is just a tad faster.

Love them both. :)

Thank you for your post!

I agree it seems that the WD6401AALS is abit faster than the SAMSUNG HD502HJ. Also the WD6401AALS has 12ms seek time (single drive) and the SAMSUNG HD502HJ has 13.1ms (slower)! But on sequential transfer rates the samsung wins! it pulls 137mb/sec while the WD6401AALS pulls 113.7mb/sec. The samsung is a single platter drive so it explains the higher STR. while the WD6401AALS has 32mb of cache and shows its muscle against the samsung at lower 1ms seek time. So that`s why they are the best drive around! it was diffcult for me to choose between the two but i picked two of the same to satisfy my needs. I love them too!
