Well im in need of some folding and crunching stuff.. A friend is giving me a great deal on a mobo but he says im gonna need a cpu.... Its 775.. A Single Core will get me started.. Idk how many points i can rack up with it but it will be crunching more than half the day... folding the other half... unless i can run both.. My main rig in system specs just joined the wcg team and is crunching as i type this.... I see everyone else helping and Im saying hey.. I love TPU.. and I wanna help you guys get to the top as much as I can... Im gonna need some DDR2 and maybe a pentium 4 or something.. I will trade GTAIV as it is all I have ATM.. I may already have the ram covered... So remember I am very poor... No Q9550s or anything.. Just something simple to get me started.. I already have another rig for crunching just gotta get another powerstrip and ill eb good to go.. 3 boxews folding and crunching would be sick!!!... Thanks guys

You can fold and crunch at the same time. Folding - GPU. Crunching - CPU.

It won't be a ton, but Crunching and Folding aren't about points. The calculation that could save lives could be done on any computer, from one of the crazy i7 rigs, to an old P4 box that's been folding/crunching in the basement for years. Every little bit helps.

(realizes that I need to get on the ball and crunch and fold myself)

From what I understand, ATI cards dont fold as well as nVIDIA cards. I think its a driver issue. If that is the case, it seems ATI would wanna fix that asap.

Actually it's a client limitation. They haven't coded it to use more than 320 shaders(what the HD 2900XT have), the reason Nvidia folds better is because they have it coded for CUDA, which lets it use all the shaders on the card. I saw an article saying that if they got it to use 800 ATi shaders, a 4850 would out fold a GTX 285, but they're too lazy to do this I guess.
