Im looking at getting like 2 or 3 new fans for my 500r case. Im running the stock corsair fans, but I really dont thing they are moving much air at all. Ive been looking at Gentle Typhoon 1450 fans. Would those help, Im sure they are stronger then the corsair fans.

I've been using two Gentle Typhoons, the AP14 and AP15, and it feels like they do push a nice amount of air for the noise they make. I just received a GELID Silent 12 and an Enermax TB Silence that I wanted to test out and so far I'm liking the GELID Silent 12 more than the Enermax which makes more noise for me compared to the GTs.

Forgot to mention that I do recommend the Gentle Typhoon if you're looking to purchase some but maybe try 2 or so, I've never had any experience with Corsair fans.

If i have a fan controller. Higher speed fans then undervolt them, or lower speed funs and run them on max depending?

I max them always. Since when it's afternoon (like right now) the electric fan behind me is louder than all the case fans combined anyway. And when it's evening but I'm yet to sleep, the fan behind me is still turned on. Then when it's past midnight I turn on the aircon and the fans are still at max just so I can see lower idle temps. And the aircon is still louder anyway.

Not all of my case fans are Silverstone btw, there are Deepcool Windblade fans too. It's just that they're not readily available over there, weirdly. They're cheaper than Cooler Master and Thermaltake and Enermax fans but they perform roughly the same (roughly the same CFM).

Try with Silverstone's air penetrators, you'll be surprised, they are very good case fans.

I'd just get some yate loons from petra's (the good ones) and wire them all into the fan headers on your ASRock board that support the smart fan function, which will automatically control the fan speed based on CPU load for a target temp. I liked this setup on my old ASRock board with 2x fans on the heatsink and the exhaust case fan...because really the only time higher speeds were NEEDED was long sessions of BC2. Just depends on your noise tolerance I guess.

    noise blockers?
personally i dont think it would reduce the sound much, except you put your stuff in isolated case
    most noise from fans
so if you wanna get silent system use big fan with low rpm.

I think he means the Noiseblocker brand fans. On that note, they're fine, good quality and smooth character, low to moderate in tonality.

I prefer to use high-performance fans at low speeds. Good long-term reliability and performance when you need it. I use ADDA 100CFM PWM 2BB fans that usually are running at ~30%. When serious cooling is needed, they are ramped up.

Edit to add: also am running 150CFM Deltas on computers that are in their own room. Long USB and VGA cables keep the noise out of earshot, out of mind.

Im not sure how they compare to other fans but I use Antec Tri-Cool fans for my CPU cooler and case, they have a 3 speed switch and I just set everything to lowest (silent).

For the cpu cooler I swapped the 120mm and 140mm noctua fans out for a single 120mm Tri-cool set to minimum for my NH-D14 and I seem to get around the same temps so hey they can't be too bad.

Gentle Typhoons AP15's - they sure move a lot of air at low power usage and noise...

Yeah i have the clear Antec tri-cools with blue LEDs, but i believe you can get them in standard black w/o leds, and of course clear with other coloured leds

I heard that makes the fan off balance so it causes problems down the road. noise and vibrations

Given the higher cost of the Gentle Typhoon's, I take it your able to budget a fair amount on the fans.

These seem like a good option:

    Cougar CF-V12HP

The version without PWM is $3 cheaper.

Here is a comparison the Gentle Typhoons:

    ORANGE!:banghead:

Has anyone heard anything good about these. I was going to ask for a few for my bday comming up soon. I have a fan controller too so ill put them on it.

EDIT: Im looking more at Noiseblocker reviews and I think im getting 2 or 3 of those for my case. I have been also trying to look for specso n the fans that the 500r come with. like what there RPM is. I feel like they aren't moving faster then 1000RPM though

Funniest thing i read all day! Have painted many fan's over the year's and have seen many a painted fan, no complaint's

Never had a problem with the GT's and don't think you can beat them for the price
