You can't beat the Frosty Tech website for cooler reviews. There is no simple answer to you question what's "the best". You just have to do the reading and make up your own mind.

with that voltage you'll have crazy temps with only a v1 cooling the quad

What is the best CPU cooler on the market right now, *only air coolers* as I can not afford a water cooler. From why I've read so far the cnps9700 zalman is still the best one, but I also cam across som thermaltake tx-14 or something that's supposed to be really good.

It has to fit into an anted 900

Is 1.4V better for 3.6GHz? I'll try to lower Vcore it once I'm sure 3.6 is stable.

I used the S1283 for almost every intel system i built. It's one kick ass cooler. One thing u might find annoying of the S1283 is pushpins.

The S1283 is pretty close performance to the TRUE but the TRUE is a lot more expensive so I would say the S1283 would win.

What's funny about those charts is that the Vendetta 2 IS a Xigmatek cooler, rebranded by OCZ.

3.6 didn't really seem to work out anyway. After about 7 minutes of Prime95 the system rebooted itself. I figured 3.2 @ 1.35 Vcore would be just fine since my brother won't be gaming too much (so he says). Here's a shot of my temps after 1 run of 3Dmark06 and 20 minutes of Prime95.
