What do you think about AIO's for cooling Video cards?


I'm interested to know you opinions about those systems, I'm not interested on read reviews links or pages, I'm interested to hear your points of view about this, lets discus this!

I'm interested in the option of a single cooler, a single loop for a video card, I already own a AIO for my CPU which performs pretty fine, can't complain about how it works, so that made me think about another AIO for cooling a video card,
my main question is: how does it will perform? will it be a good idea?

I like the concept, but I would like to see a CPU, GPU AIO with a 240 or 360 rad. Then they could offer different mounting kits for different GPU's like they do with CPU's.

I think CPU needs to be cooler than video card and its more important than gpu`s cooling.
i think there is no need to put an AIO cooling on gpu except the reference versions.

for me : i rather use water cooling on cpu and not the gpu.

IMO .. I feel that an AIO is great for CPU cooling, and provides great temps at low prices, Especially when compared to silly CPU cooling tower radiators. When it comes to GPU's, since the Memory chips generate a substantial amount of heat (which can cause instability when allowed to get out of hand) I feel that a AIO loop is fine IF used in a "hynrid" type setup...meaning a block covering the GPU chip itself, and a Fan cooling the Memory, and power management components on the PCB. IMO... those blocks that cover the whole card are WAY over priced, and not justified by theyre performance to cost ratio.. I say that because MY old HD 6950 runs an OC of 10% or so 24/7, oon ONLY air, and idles in the High 20's. and games in the Mid 60's. These are MY opinionsand experiences, so please dont get angry with ME if Someone who bought one of those fancy GPU water blocks or massive CPU Rad's is reading this. Just as a reference , I live in Newengland, so I am NOT in a Cold climate that never gets warm, normal winters and Summers.

They are a good thing. Without them, we'd have to wait for air cooling to catch up with tech/die size/etc. On a GPU they cool better than air with lower noise.

much higher capacity to remove heat than any block of copper you can ever hang off your gpu without it breaking.

been running an antec 920 aio on my 290x for a while and it is like a different card. run it silent and the vrm at 72c is the hottest reading. turn my fans up to 1600rpm and the card never sees above the high 50c range.

thanks in advance for the opinions, I'm pretty new on liquid cooling solutions but some ideas are always growing in my mind, so that’s why I made the post,

I like water cooling, and also I like AIO's since they are maintenance free, also the fact mentioned by @jboydgolfer about water blocks and all other components that may be cooled on the GPU makes me stay on the air cooling for my Video card,

the principal doubt about this was also the mentioned before Hybrid options on video cards, the ones that combine AIO for GPU directly and Vram and mosfets cooled by a fan, thats another interesting idea, is there any universal kit for several video card models?

Arctic made one a while back, now you can go with the NZXT or Corsair clones to do this.

I have seen arctic options and they are little expensive, $110 stills a little bit overpriced for a 120mm rad cooler,

Arctic makes good stuff. Heck, I payed close to 100 bucks for their extreme air cooler... and it probably works just as well as many AIO water coolers.... Though it's very long and almost 3 slots high!

im using a Kraken x41 on my gtx 680 and it does a great job, using it with a g10 bracket. The only thing that most brackets lack is some type of cooling for the VRMS as the need they little heatsinks.

Personally, I like the idea because it allows for nice temps at higher overclocks with most of the heat leaving the case (If you have them exhausting). I had a pair of the PNY GTX 580 LC edition video cards and they were pretty awesome at the time (Bought them after doing many custom cut loops and decided to try after my last pair of GTX 460's on air to see how good I could clock them). With AIO's becoming so mainstream and significantly more reliable than they were in the past I feel its the next step for GPU's on the high end over at least blower style basics because there will become a limit on how much better (Without at least huge costs and a lot of time and research) it can be.

Its also a simple way for overclockers who do not want to spend the time (or can't) and risk of making their own custom cooling system.

In short, I like them! I would love to see some more attempts at full cover AIO's though!

Do you live in my wildest dreams? Because I'm pretty sure I've been looking for this for a *really* long time. I could have sworn there was a press release from a smaller company a while back on TPU for something to that effect, but I don't know if it ever materialized.

I've been the Koolance route, I've been the car rad route, hell...I still have a Prometeia Mach 2 buried in my closet. All I want these days is an AIO that will do both a cpu and 1 and/or 2 GPUs while also:

1. Fitting in a small-ish HTPC-style case (2x120/140mm...out of the side of a Silvertstone GD09/GD10).
2. Not sound like a jet engine.
3. Keep everything from not melting down at some kind of decent perf/v level.

Must be getting old...

Yea, we had something like this awhile back, and a few others, but it's only for one type of Graphic's card. ID-COOLING had something, but I never seen it for sale.

So, there should be no need to ever cool anything with water? Unfortunatenly, sometimes you get stuck at a point in technology and have to use other methods to cool something.

technically from my side, they are worth it but too little choices on the model of AIO usable (tho i suspect you can use a Thermaltake 360 AIO on a NZXT Kraken G10 since the pump use the same model, but the tubing would be a tad short)
if you can't afford a custom loop and the AIO+bracket price is interesting : it's a good idea

otherwise ... as i did ... : once got custom for both CPU and GPU, i would never consider a AIO setup again ... (and i was on a budget so i did my 2 loop in a 2 time pattern ... ordering what i can afford and making the budget over 3 month~ )

Ever, anything? Sure, some things need liquid cooling.

But there shouldn't be a need to cool stock* running GPUs with liquid now or in the next several generations. Especially considering how much performance we are getting out of Maxwell compared to it's heat output. And Maxwell isn't even on the latest fab process.

*I mean either reference clocks or pre-overclocked clocks unless the pre-overclock is insane.

well, I hope someday GPU "sockets become more universal on AMD and nvidia so maybe we can get a decent AIO and its respective bracket for that gpu socket, also a blower for ram,

gpu Sockets could now be a thing with the introduction of stacked memory directly on the GPU package
