Yeah it's hot, do you have any case air flow? May help bring down those mem temps.

Try pointing a 120mm at it.

you hit over 98c with the HD 4850, expect that thing to heat your hole system up, degrading the life of the card, and everything else in the dam system.

Get some airflow dude, and if that dosnt help Reset the heatsink with AS5 and go on newegg and buy vrm heatsinks and stick them all on all the reg's and memory chips on the card .

you bet it's hot. Try to make a better airflow inside your case and don't do any OC to that video card !!

My case is very ventilated ( with 4 fans and my cpu hit 21°c all the time)
i pointed an antec 80mm fan at full stock at it
but you talk about the memio 96.5°c full in stock clocks or the vmod temps ?
i think 78°c (with 96.5 Memio) at charge are normal. Or not ?

I have that fan on an Asus 4870 here. It runs very hot, it's very loud. It's just a cheap fan.

You could replace it with something custom.

80 degrees at that load isn't bad.

So my temps at charge without overclock are just fine, thanks.
i have a question, i want to change the thermal paste, so i looked inside and found in the back of the fan this grey paste in the picture, so is this the original thermal paste or what ? it's very solid and i think this will cause poor thermal contact

i want to totally erase this for better cantact ?
    can i ?

Just clean the paste and apply some, re-stick your cooler, give it another go and watch your temps. If it doesn t work, you might want to get an aftermarket gpu cooler.

Yes Sir that is the original paste....I never did understand the reasoning behind the paste and style of applying it tho..You would think a Vendor would know better...or maybe they do(highly doubted) and thats why just about all of them do it.

Actually the vendor paste almost LOOKS like it has aluminum in it?

Really don't know, i don't like it, it's very solid and appliyed over the gpu surface i think it cause poor contact, i will change it soon and tell you about difference.

Actually they aren't that hot for that type of cooler. But compared to something like the cooler on my 4870 which has a heatpiped vaporx cooler, it is. I average 22c Idle and 62c under load using Furmark.

One point of advice, because that cooler disipates the heat into the case try setting the fan to 100% in CCC if you can stand the noise. this will bring both idle temp down by about 10c and not have to wait for the fan to spin up under load, resulting in it cooling faster after the load stops.

So i erased completely and changed the thermal paste (regular not top). My new temps after 30Min of charge this time :
so i won 4°c in the core temp and about 12.5°c in the Memio that caused my problems.
    am satisfied :)
