AMD's Radeon Fury non-X has been received quite well, but is it enough to beat GTX 980. What about R9 390X which comes with large 8 GB VRAM?

My opinion is , why take the risk on how well the fury will do once its drivers are more mature, when We all know with a modest level of certainty that the 980 will certainly be well worth its cost, and will definitely pull its weight.I feel that HBM will change the world of the PC ,im just not sure if now is its time.

No prices on the Fury yet, so it's hard to answer.

AMD carved the R9 Fury out of the Fiji silicon, by enabling 56 of the 64 GCN compute units physically present, yielding 3,584 stream processors. Other specifications include 224 TMUs, 64 ROPs, and 4 GB of memory across a 4096-bit wide HBM interface. The core is clocked at 1000 MHz, and the memory at 500 MHz (512 GB/s). Custom-design boards will offer factory-overclocked speeds. AMD is pricing the R9 Fury at US $549.

And the review for the Strix says $580. But we don't know if those are the actual prices yet. The cheapest 980 is $520 or there abouts, but it's been on the market for a long time now.

MSI 980 Gaming is actually $489 on Newegg right now.

$469 with the rebate, I just looked at "normal" prices. The argument still stands though. Ask again in a few months. :)

Still overpriced. Should have the 390 non X on that list. Much more attractive option seeing as you can clock it up and get 390X performance for less price.

still feeling smug sat on my 290x @1150mhz core tbh :D

nano has my interest more than the others if i am honest. 2 of those look like they could be the best way to get good frames @4k without spending a grand on 980ti.

Isn't the price range a bit too wide?

I prefer 390 non-X. Quite cheaper than 980 and not too far off in performance.
Although if I really want to buy GPU now, I'd probably still take 980 since I have bad experience with last gen R9 (I had two 280x busted).

At the price of Fury non-X, I'd prefer jump straight to 980Ti instead.

Personally I'd pick the Fury. Can't wait to see what the Fury Nano does though!

Also, any particular reason the poll adds up to 110%? I'm guessing the 390X is thrown in just for kicks.

I realize the Price isnt 100% firm, but I was under the impression You had NO idea...that Price is atleast an idea, which You can subtract or Add 20$-60$ to and have a reasonably close estimate of the actual price.

rebates, and deals not included of course.

I have every intention of buying a Fury. My issue is who do I choose.. Sapphire who I have used most of my gaming life since the 9800 and have never let me down, but putting out their card on a reference board OR then there is the ASUS with the total custom board with upgraded everything...
But then the card has proven to be a very useless overclocler anyway so all that ASUS jazz is pointless. Will also say I have never made any serious attempts at overclocking my 7970. It had an overclock BIOS so that is all I have used.

I choose ASUS 980 Strix for quietest (MSI Gaming lack backplate so I choose ASUS).
980 also has very large overclocking potential (980 max oc should beat fury max oc @ 1440p)
For best aesthetic probably 980 Hall of Fame.

I found this STRIX Fury review and it for whatever reason paints a completely different picture from what W1zzard appeared to have (no disrespect)
http://www.hardwareluxx.com/index.p...36032-reviewed-asus-strix-radeon-r9-fury.html

TPU Avg. power 28% more than a 980 / HLuxx is showing 3.7% under gaming load.
Noise under load TPU has the STRIX at 40 dBa same as HLuxx; although the TPU 980 is 34dBa/HLuxx is 48 dBa. Looking around the web of reviews at that time 34dba was exceptionally low; though 48dBa seem a little high more review post number that in that range.

FWIW, you need to take a few reviews into account for noise production (and general performance). The 980ti Jetstream ( i know this is a 980/fury discussion) is another example with the majority saying it is the quietest but Kit Guru saying it is the noisiest.

None of them! They all are too expensive. Waiting for Nano performance reviews (and price has to be comparable to 970 or less) and then deciding between 970 and Nano.

I just bought a ASUS Radeon R9 390 DirectCU DC 2 II 8GB. Reason being that my pcie slot is 2.0 x16 I have three 2.0 x16 pcie slots, so I think that the R9 390 might be getting close to maxing out the 2.0 pcie slot so I will just stick with this card and buy 2 more later on to crossfire when needed.

Pondering for you all. What if the Nano is filling in the 380X segment? AMD has held off on the 380X. Think about it, why list Nano as 290X when you have 390X out? It wouldn't be a stretch to probably get a Nano running at 390X performance. However, if it was, it would directly compete with the 390s and potentially hurt sales of one or the other..

I'm guessing 380X performance might be closer to 290X. So if you've got Nano coming in around the same spot, releasing the 380X early could potentially cause a problem. Got two products competing against each other. Perhaps AMD wants a premium for Nano due to HBM but if 380X is out and offers the same performance for much less price, it would cut into Nano sales. Granted Nano will have a value for small form factor machines, but it might be harder for AMD to justify spending a premium on Nano when you can get a 380X that does the same for less price. Thus, Nano releases first for a bit, then the 380X comes later.
