Currently owning a 1080p monitor , I would like to upgrade but I am not sure which one I should get. Either a 1080p 144Hz or a 1440p IPS monitor. In the case I would choose a 1440p monitor, will my 280x be powerful enough to run games at ~40 or ~50 fps in very high settings at least ?I know that Call of Duty series would run fine , but I am not sure about Battlefield 3&4.If not , what gpu should I get instead ?
As I am in no hurry, shall I wait a little more till next year for upcoming gpus ? I can dedicate up to 700€ for this upgrade.

If your budget is 700€ then why not two upgrades?

For ~250 euros you should be able to grab a korean 1440p monitor and then spend the rest on a non reference 290X / GTX 970 (and sell your 280X) and you will still have some money left.

a 280X is not recommended to pay at 1080p 144Hz or 1440p 60Hz as it's not powerful enough

I will go for the BenQ GW2765HT then. There is a little over 100€ difference between the cheapest and the most expensive 970. Which one should I get , for better overclocking?
