I'm a Logitech man, but at this point, I'm willing to look at other options.

I used to be a very competitive gamer, and I'm looking to start getting back into that.

I used an MX518 for a long time, and really liked it. I tried out a Logitech G5 (version 1), and couldn't stand that it only had a back button rather than a back and forward (as I use those for leaning in FPS games), so I stuck with my MX518.

Once the G9 came out, I took the plunge, and aside from it being slightly uncomfortable (as I have big hands and LONG fingers), I liked it overall.

I liked the "Wide Load" grip for the extra mouse foot, thumb rest, and the grippy feeling. The coating came off, so I threw it out, and have been using the other grip. Now, the mouse wheel kinda catches at one point every revolution, so the hyper scroll wheel really doesn't work, and that's driving me NUTS, not to mention it skipping a mouse wheel click while gaming.

Should I try to get a hold of a new G9 or grab a G5 v2 (the blue version, which has a back and forward button)? Or is there another mouse that would suit me nicely?

I love my G5 v2, I've had it for a few weeks now and it's been great. I do like it better than my friends' MX518, both are great mice to say the least. Though the G9 looks tempting, but I go for value, so the G5 at 45 bucks was my value/performance ticket, that's the most I've ever spent on a mouse tbh. But I'm glad I have it now!

Could you guys do a little deal searching for a G5 for me? I did a little and I couldn't seem to find it for under $50.

DeathAdders are very nice. Look at the TPU review. If you can, I would go to best buy and get the one that feels the best. Or if you can find one at Circuit City, you could get it very cheap!

Deathadder's are the best mice on the market IMO. I've used a lot of mice(G5, G9, Habu and an assortment of other optical/laser mice) and the Deathadder has the best feel and weight to it. If I won the lottery I wouldn't buy a 100$+ mouse, I would just buy a bunch of deathadders :)

I definitely won't use a wireless mouse, and I really don't want to pay another $100 for a mouse. Does the Deathadder have the tilting scroll wheel?

I got one at Best Buy for 50$. No waiting and a good price. Call 'em up and ask! I'm pretty sure that's retail price too!

Might want to give the mx revolution a go. I know I say that to everyone but its a large mouse that is very comfortable and works pretty much on any surface. You can also manually assign every button on the mouse. It has a back and foward, left right up and down mousewheel and a search button that I use for taking screenshots. It comes with a charger and takes about 10 minute to get a decent charge. It also has a side scrollwheel for changing songs or whatever you want.

I suggest you try G5, deathadder and MX Rev. and make up your mind on your own between the 3...

Have you attempted to use a belt sander to "mod" your finger length to a more appropriate size for the G9?

Mex Rev is by far the nicest feeling mouse I have ever come across. The other choices you got are nice too, so really all up to you.
