Once You Know, You Newegg
The largest quality PSU you can afford.
Use that link and let us know what kind of #'s it puts out for you. It's not perfect, but it gives you a good ballpark.
Also, if you have any upgrade plans (within the next couple of years), also add those in and give us that number.
If you want minimum cost, that system only needs a 500W PSU or so. But if you have some more money, a better PSU means more upgrade and overclocking capability.

i decided on the Corsair 600W.
good choice little more power than you need but leaves room if you end up upgrading something
also why are you getting a USB3 card the board has the exact sameUSB3 controller on the mobo same for the Sata II controller the board has 8 sata II ports on it and you only got 1 HDD?
there is 3 HDD and the usb3.0 card is there because the black magic intensity shuttle capture card does not work with an on board p55 motherboard for whatever reason.
Why the SATA card, still? Your motherboard can run 3 hard disks just fine.
i need a write speed minimum of 233.28mbps
The PCIe card will be faster? Your hard drives should be the speed limiter. The motherboard ports are SATA/300, which is more than enough for 233.28.
Idk, just curious...
weird that it will work with a NEC external but not a NEC onboard same exact chip on both....
well the sata II card you linked still wont get the HDD you posted to push 200mb/s you wont get that without raid 0 or an SSD both of which will still work on the onboard which IS sata II 3Gb/s just like the card you linked
i was planning on putting 3 of them in raid 0.......i thought that was obvious. why else would i buy a raid controller?
Okay, but you can still do that with the motherboard RAID controller. It comes with one built in.
raid 0 works perfectly fine on P55 infact the cheap raid card will probably do worse not better
also hope you have some sort of huge drive to put video on because 1080P uncompressed video is going to fill that in less than an hour
ahh, thanks. ill remove the controller.
Saves you $90 too. Gosh, that is a lot for a SATA card!
for the $90 it saves i would look at a pair of 1TB storage drives
Good luck with that! In my recent shopping best i could get was 2 750GB drives for $38 each.
i will hunt you down jr
and promo codes always help EMCKHJC37
This is the chepest RAID capable drives currently on newegg:

Same as my drives only more storage.
Oh and one more thing, wait a little longer before you buy.

with the promo i posted and what is raid capable? every drive i have ever used was raid capable
The low power drives that like to park their heads don't like to be in a raid array. Most controllers don't care for it too much.
they will figure it out and fine get the hitachis then they are faster anyway
