I recently had to downgrade my GTX480 card to a XFX 5750 because of budget issues. Now that I actually have some money to spend on my rig, whats the best choice for me with $100? At fry's I saw a 40gb Intel SSD on sale for $90. I was really tempted but I also wanted to get another 5750 to crossfire. What do you think I should do? Get the SSD? or another 5750?

Depends on how much you game. The extra card will give you a performance boost, but the SSD won't do much for you except maybe load your games a little faster. If you spend less time gaiming and more time surfing the net and using apps like Office, then the SSD would be a better choice.

    That must have sucked

    I know going from a over-clocked GTX 480
all the way down to a 5750

    must have been terrable.

get another 5750 and over-clock them a tad to get 470 performance

lol. Yeah you never know! It'll be a pain to downgrade once again! :toast: It can't be worse from the massive downgrade you went through though.

Ya, terrible indeed. The 480 would pump out 100+FPS with everything maxed.

    @t_ski
I do a bit of both but now I'm kind of more into general web surfing and doing general office stuff because of school.

LOL this guy is getting flamed.. He is asking how to blow his money... not how he can learn to be financially responsible.

If I were you I would get the second gpu.. it will be much more fun as an impulse buy than a SSD. wink

Every time someone asks a question like this, I can only think of telling them to buy a shotgun and go to Cyberdruid's house
    Another 5750 I reckon

Ever since Don got that avatar he's been acting more and more like it!

I'd save the $100 and if you must spend it on your rig put it towards a larger future upgrade.

Or donate it to a local animal rescue or something.

invest it, buy gold... or oil stocks. buy some of Americas & UK's debt maybe (decent interest rate)? Or u could just roll it up and watch it burn.

on topic: i'd say ge the other 5750 crossfire. u already got a raid-0 setup, not too much of an improvement with a ssd over day-to-day use

Save it for the future. 5750 is quite a good card and if your games are running good on it, then just stay with it for a while. Then keep saving money till you get allot of savings, that would be a good time to buy an upgrade. But if you want me to answer your question, go with another 5750.
