i agree it take's two to tango.
but it is still the mod's duty to uphold the rule's of the forum
That's one thing i didn't care about, is clubs. I use to live in Germany for about 5 years and never had an interest for clubs. But that was over 12 years ago, I don't think it was much of a thing back then anyway. Still don't when I moved back to the states.
I think the only way they could do that is if all users did the right thing and report post when needed and if there is not a mod on to try as an experienced member to defuse any prob that might come up. I dont think more mods are required and the forum has the right balance atm.
So, everything is ok on the school issue? Would you still like those contact numbers?
it in our best interests to help out around the forums like if you see a problem ask about it see if you can find a amicable resolution, even just telling the mods is good
reporting spam bots or just pure spam is allways easy
i usualy only tell people they have posted in the wrong forum thats okay because then they will know the proper place to do it, mods can then move or close the thread
if you do look out while in threads ect it makes the place nicer
its like if you see a crime in real life do you A report the crime B try and stop the criminal or C leave it alone and expect that someone else will solve it
except its not as bad as a crime
i see the mods do an okay job, the reason i like the forums is that you can go slightly off within reason and you wont get hammerd for it unlike other forums hell you can even disagree with someone and not get into trouble here
see this thread was designed so people could give suggestions as to what could be added or changed on the forums
the mods go easy because there is no need to crack down
just wondering if anyone can send in a news source for the main page?
you can but you may not get credit for it....
if it was important i guess it would already be up on the main page
damn i havnt been on gamepowerup in ages maybe i could send news over there
I have seen a few posts, one for example from a user called nike trainers or something who made some post asking for advice, with a nice link at the bottom for a site selling nike shit.
I will always report what is obviously spam, and point wrong posts to the correct section.
Personally,i think the forum is ticking away pretty nicely, there does not seem to be many(if any) disruptive people on tpu now,or i have not noticed them.
sometime's us reg member's come across thing's before the new's team.....
EDIT : tigger love the sig man LOL
sorry to dredge this thread back up, but I just wanted to make a suggestions for the mods . . .
I'm not calling any mod out inparticular, as I've seen this happen a lot; but, please, if you're going to edit a users post for them, could you please include fill out the 'reason for editing' section with a brief explanation - foul language, disorderly conduct, lewd commenting, trolling, poor spelling, etc?
If it's not something that's really infraction worthy, at least offer a reason that the user might take some advice from; lest they start toying with the notion of re-editing the post back to the way it was, or possibly sowing negative attitudes between a user and a mod.
I'll restate, though - I'm not trying to light an arguement or digging this thread up for some righteous crusade. I only wanted to toss out an opinion and recommendation that might be something worthwhile to take into consideration.
i like the idea imperial i like it a lot
Closing threads over one person instead of banning the people or person at fault.
Thats what happened but unfortuently it wont get us anywhere continually bringing it up.
It happens all the time....it's not just that one thread.
Not true in the case you are referring to... go back through the pages and count the number of times warnings were issued not to mention the last time it was closed and with the same reason as it has been now...
I know that they were, had to of just because of how long that thread has been going. It's not just that thread tho, lots of threads get closed and no bannings take place.
I know it's not hard to delete a single post or even to ban someone.
one click at the bottom of VB log in click ban and type the name.
I tried to warn P4-630 a couple times. I don't think the thread should've been locked. Just his posts deleted, and him infracted. But meh, whatever, it's only a thread I suppose.
I think its a good idea too ive seen it done in a few forums and it seems to eleviate any confusion that can come about and can give a sense transperincy.
I understand and am fully aware of how it is done... and to have to consistantly delete posts warn and or give out bans because peeps can not adhere to a simple request just gets old and frankly I'm personally tired of people taking it for granted... warnings were posted on several different occasions... as for banning em .. pfft make a new account and we have to play the IP game... No offense DaMulta you've been here for a some time now and started a very popular thread but I thought it was time to push back... sorry
Can we have another Crazy Picture thread with an insta-ban rule?
I've only posted a few times but never had any bad advice from the mods, who I think are doing a great job.
IMO I wouldn't change anything to change this forum
Then we would run into the IP game as he stated earlier. Over picture threads were deleted for becoming too sexy aswell. ~thats what I have heard, I don't know it from experience though. So maybe that person was making it up?
It was mostly a joke, but anyway:
No, they weren't making it up. It was the hot chicks thread. Ket started it, and it spiraled out of control fairly quickly. People were taking porn pics, and Using MS paint or photoshop to draw other objects over genitals. Like turning penises into rum bottles and such. Funny, but out of line.
I just really liked the CPT is all, as did many other members. It's a shame that one bad apple spoiled the bunch.
Point me to one. I edited one yesterday, but also sought the user(s)' consent privately. Hence didn't want to make the reason for edit public.
I'm only pointing to this post as an example, and not as a basis for complaint - I was a bit stirred when I made the post and probably got a bit carried away with the language . . . I don't recall . . . knowing me, I'm banking on overuse of language (sorry, y'all, I tend to be a bit foul after getting home from work) . . .
but, it has happened to other users as well. TBH, it doesn't phase me all too much, as I can only count on one hand the number of times a mod has edited one of my posts here.
I just think we should be able to see a reason for the edit, to help us avoid possible conflicts over it as well. TBH, considering the stress I've been under, and the mood I was in around the time I made that post, and the mood I was in when I noticed it a few hours later, I had half a mind to re-edit the post and tack some more points of arguement into it . . . but I thought the better of it and just decided to get out for some fresh air. I don't ever recall getting real pissy or blowing up here on TPU, a couple of rants, but nothing out of line . . . don't need to start now.
I'm not making an issue out of any particular post specifically, I just think it would be a wise idea to help us out as users. I've seen other edits like that, and sooner or later it results in users complaining that mods are selectively editing posts (mostly cause no one can remember what the mod decided to omit).
