Well the whole idea behind voting is that people are allowed to express their opinion. If the thread is good enough there will be enough people rating it as such. Honestly, most people could care less about the voting on a thread. I would like to add that it would really help around here if there was a way for everyone to see that a message caused someone to recieve punishment. This would serve to purposes. 1.) It would avoid issues where one user insults another, and even though they were punished for it, it seems like nothing was done, so the insulted user assumes nothing was done and retaliates. 2.) It would serve to lead by example. If people start seeing the conciquences of others actions they will be less likely to perform those actions themselve. I have seen this done a few different ways in different forums. One way is to just have the moderators add a note to every message they hand out infractions/warnings/bans saying what action was taken and why. Another way is to simply allow the other users see the little red and yellow markers that are placed by each message, so they know some action was taken. Obviously one method will lead to slightly more work for the moderators, and the other will be slightly less effective as it doesn't say why action was taken. Perhaps an automated system can be put in place that does this, it probably won't be too hard to implement and I think it would lead to a better community. Thanks. I have talked to W1z a few times about Dippy, mainly just fowarding him conversation I have had with both Zek and Thermo about him. I have not addressed this issue directly. In fact I have given up completely on getting W1z to take any action against Dippy as it seems W1z either simply doesn't care(my guess) or Dippy has done something so extremely good for W1z that makes him some kind of God in the eyes of W1z. It is kind of sad that I pretty much can't post at all in the Linux / BSD / Mac OS X forum, as I have over 12 years experience with both Linux and Mac OS, and I am sure I could provide some very useful knowledge and help to people there, but dippy makes it almost impossible for me(and others) to post anything there.
