You are now directly insulting and baiting the mods. Not smart.
and you directly insulted me..
but thats ok right?
I'm trying to get mod feedback..
your so not helping and your only making me more upset..
your baiting me.. I am not baiting you..
it's like you want to see me get banned..
and here is my other post where I said good things.. not bad about the mods here..
so please stop acting like im trying to generalize all of you..
I'm not.. at all..
I'm just tired of logging in and seeing that one offense..
from a guy who gave it to me out of spite..
well... your posts sure come off like you're generalising us. You've minorly insulted people in a few posts, and yet you claim you've never insulted anyone.
If you want something done, ask. If nothing happens ask again, or ask a different mod. Picking fights with the people you need help from us not going to get anyone anywhere.
ok fair enough..
I didn't mean to offend anyone..
I'm just pissed..
and the more I talk here the more pissed I get..
doesn't help much that I keep getting insulted..
Lets start a fresh then. I'm sorry if I insulted you in any way.
What happened to you was 2 years ago. That doesn't mean it's right, but the way the forum is moderated has changed dramatically since then. So what do you say we put what was in the past behind us and give everyone (mods and members alike) another chance.
Please don't interpret this as another "drop it" post. I don't mean it like that at all.
not to mention most of the moderation staff has changed.
rub it in
previous posts edited..
I just get so dam upset looking at that thing..
I mean I joined 2 years ago..
and I still get to see that dang infraction..
Maybe I did deserve it..
But I have seen so much worse that people did not get infractions for..
I'd just like to not see it anymore..
I apologize as well..
bad way to start my night I guess...
Maybe I forgot to have a wholesome breakfast today with kellogs..
but your right..
I don't even think he's here anymore..
I haven't seen him anyway..
But dam he urked me good when he hit me with that after I reported him..
it's like adding insult to injury..
Ok.. I'm going to just relax for a bit and change my other topic post, to remove any vulgarity or insults..
I'd really appreciate it if someone would take care of mikes insults as well.
my post was edited..
Mikes still insults me..
fyi constructive criticism is when you take someone to the side and not try to embarass them in front of a room of people..
it means your trying to help..
not make them look like an ass..
The post that was made insulting my manner of typing was what sparked me to call him a retard.
That post was deleted.
I thought the punishment suited the crime..
I wasn't to bad..
just bad enough to reflect my displeasure at being spotlighted like an idiot.
I will try to be more understanding in regards to the way things have to be in the forum..
I know it's hard to control everything..
and I understand the need for civility..
I'm sorry about that post I deleted a bunch and thought I got them all.. Seems like I cannot get anything right tonight. I am sorry about my last post too that was way out of line. I was getting pretty frustrated trying to help you and you kept basically telling me it was not good enough even though there was nothing I could do. I have seen many similar discussing go round in circles where I try to explain something and sill get negative responses to it. I wanted it done. Which is where we are now. I have no hard feelings toward you. If you have any problems in the future you can PM me directly and I'll do what I can.
I think I have been fairly short with members as of late and way too easy to frustrate. I will try to do better.
like we said..
any action taken against wazzledoozle, or any other member..
will not be visible to you
it does not pertain to you,
and should not concern you.
I don't want to draw out this topic anymore.. I'll pm you..
Itr's all good guys. I love it when cooler heads prevail. Thanks to you gents....
I have never had any issues with moderators here.
And 99% of the replies I get are helpful and polite.
Yay some positive feedback good to hear your happy here.
Im glad this is getting Resolved.
I think that might be the issue Mussels. There are people that get "unwarranted" infractions. That is... they had no motive to cause offense, but used some words carelessly, sometimes even adopting the vernacular of moderators/admins/staff. Then WHAM they can infractions for it.
They they follow the procedure of making a polite complaint of the infraction and the hostility escalates. Then the member kicks it "up the moderator chain" and gets nothing. Just ignored.
Consequence: Infraction that moderators see for years to come... only ENCOURAGING them to infract again because they are repeat offenders.
1./ Expired infractions need to disappear forever... or indeed, they havent really expired. They are still there for the next moderator/admin to suck his pencil on and go, yep, hit it.
2./ If a member politely kicks an issue up the seniority chain it must be answered. Even if it is a stock polite answer without change. You have to do it. Otherwise it diplays arrogance or indifference, and as you can see from previous posters... that experience has a long memory.
Elephants never forget they say.
This is dead easy to implement. Someone of the mod team just needs to come up with a policy/protocol and commicate this too all. That way everyone is systematically treated the same way rather than all this ad-hoc stuff going on.
As always, TPU is still a better forum than most. No complains there. But never give up on the concept of there is always room for improvement.
1: Expired infractions remain to tell moderators that the users have received warnings/infractions. It's like the police record we all have, that stays with us forever.
2: Let's make it clear: "must be answered" ≠ "act towards undoing moderator action". The senior moderators and sometimes administrators review moderator action. If they find no changes necessary, they leave it at that. Between moderators and users, the policy of "customer is always right" "user is always right" does not exist. It is a simple mechanism that relies on cause and effect, and the legitimacy of both.
I am new here and I have been reading this thread. I think that the above post is one of the best I have seen on this topic. I have managed large companies and I would hire lemonadesoda. Logical, reasonable and Well said
Please remember that posting here is a privilege no doubt but it is also voluntary. Every single poster adds value to the community with their helpful posts. If they occasionally offend someone but it is no big deal why the infractions.? I know that if it happened to me and I felt I had a legitimate complaint and I was ignored I would just be outta here. Yes this is a good forum but there are many good ones.
This post that I have quoted was well said. With authority comes responsibility!
Legitimacy of action, against irresponsible behaviour by members, validates responsible handling of authority.
I am kind of curious. What do people think infractions are? This seems like an odd question, but I would really like to here your feedback. I'll give my answer to that question after I've heard some of your answers.
An Infraction Is or can be a Warning or points given to a member From Moderation for being Rude, Starting Fights, Throwing Threads off topic, Creating Drama ETC ETC.
To me an infraction is more of a red flag to other staff members that there is a user that is misbehaving, causing problems, etc. I don't know how many "points" each TPU member has before a ban and if that value ever changes, I do know on the infraction screenies I've seen throughout the years posted on this forum it seems there is a points value of some sort that help to give a level of deduction from infractions for a certain amount of time. Kind of like a drivers license in a sense, I don't think I've had one, and not really sure beyond what what they're really good for.
An infraction is just a slap on the wrist effectively. A gentle warning to stop before getting into more trouble. No other members except mods can see that you recieved one, so it's not something to be ashamed of (not to be proud of either. Some people seem to collect them lol), just something to learn from.
If you recieve an infraction, can you see it in the user cp? I can't see an option anywhere.
Yes You can see it in your User Cp.
That description makes perfect sense, I've still yet to give any infractions over at GPU! Forums, mostly banning spammers and thanking users for support at this point, when not talking about gaming. But, really I don't know if infractions are truly useful, I mean sure maybe from an argumentative standpoint to show a repetetive offender how many times they've screwed up, but that (as we've all seen many times in this thread) gives said users more things to bash on and cry about. TBH, maybe having a red flag system where you mark that users' posts, threads, etc so that it brings up a folder or something near their names for staff members to show them what is going on would be more useful. I have seen so many arguements from some users about infractions, let alone getting banned, I'd almost say mark your proof on said user, PM and warn them 1-2 times depending on the offender and repeat of offenses, and ban from there. As a user here it doesn't matter to me as I try to be repsectful and not harass the staff (too much! ), not saying anything needs changed, I just don't know if the infraction system is truly an effective method, even for proof of prior screw-ups, a history of marked posts, pm's, etc for other mods to see might be more useful, maybe not though! Maybe you already have it!
Separate names with a comma.
